You either love the Yankees or hate the Yankees and that has nothing to do with being a Red Sox fan or not. I believe the majority of us hate the Yankees. However hating a team (Yankees, Red Sox or any team) is also a sign of respect. You have no reason to hate a perennial losing team.

Well I've seen the Yankees in 4 other stadiums and the funny thing is I would say more love the Yankees--since I was usually surrounded by Yankee fans in places like KC, Tampa Bay etc
But now the Red Sox are a "losing" team? Wow. Has nothing to do with that--a rivalry is a rivalry. I can have any reason I want to hate a perennial losing team--just ask Alabama/Auburn, Michigan/Ohio St. But I wouldn't call the Red Sox a perennial losing team. They are successful by most standards, just not by championship standards (except if maybe just looking at the past 8 years). And by the way, the Yankees sucked amidst a few interludes of success when I was growing up. From 1979 until 1994 was a painful time for championships and pennants with only a couple exceptions.

Note I also did not start this thread. Nor did I start a thread last week saying "Red Sox Lose" with a quip from Buck Martinez or something.

Well...
How many of the great Red Sox have won only none world series? Most of em.
All in good fun--Detroit really doesn't have that kind of baseball rivalry so maybe this is foreign. New Yorkers have this relationship and it's normal.
