[quote:a27f844832="blackjack57"]Prospect draft:
1) There will be one prospect draft each season.
2) The yearly prospect draft is 4 rounds, to be held immediately after each year's Spring Free Agent draft.
[b:a27f844832]3) Players eligible for the prospect draft will be any player who has not appeared in a MLB game prior to the start of the current MLB season (3/31/2011). This includes minor leaguers, college and high school players, and that 12 year old you saw in the LLWS. [/b:a27f844832]
4) The initial prospect draft is serpentine. Draft order for this initial Prospect draft will be the reverse of the draft order for the Initial Free Agent draft. All subsequent prospect drafts are non-serpentine, and draft order is based on the previous season's regular season records.
5) There will be a 5 hour clock for Round 1 of each prospect draft. All subsequent rounds will operate with a 3 hour clock.
6) Individual owners are responsible for their own prospect research.

No on Chapman since he appeared in a MLB game before this year, even though he did not have a 2010 card. He will be eligible in the spring FA draft.[/quote:a27f844832]

I would like to propose to amend the rule about eligiblity for the prospect draft. 2010 September call ups really mess things up and limit the prospect draft. I understand why leagues have the rule as stated above... to disallow teams from drafting a veteran who did not have a card in the previous year, usually due to injury.

Proposal: Players with rookie status would be eligibile for the prospect draft.

And would a rule stipulating that once you write a player in, you cannot change him later (unless you screwed up and wrote in someone not eligible) be advisable? Reason I'm asking is if someone writes a player in and changes it later that makes it difficult for subsequent pickers to know who is available. I think it throws people off. Once they read a name on the list they assume he's not available any more. It's too tedious if multimple people are trading in their picks. Later pickers are in a frantic situation trying to decide who in fact is actually available it seems in that case.[/quote:be5a31eab8]

Since we're using stratdraft you won't be able to change it. If someone makes a mistake I can change it, that will be announced on the ILC, plus I'll use the little yellow guys on the strat site.

[b:be5a31eab8]Instructions for using stratdraft for prospects:[/b:be5a31eab8]

If you are up - "Draft Players, Non-carded player" - enter the player name, h or p, level, and 0 for salary. [b:be5a31eab8]Make sure you spell the name right[/b:be5a31eab8]

To proxy - "Front Office, My profile", go to the "obtain id for pre-majors player" box near the bottom of the page. Input the name, h or p, level, and 0 salary. The system will assign an id (a# instead of s#) that only you will see. The prospect will appear in the Auxiliary Players box on bottom of page. Add the prospect to your list the same as before.

Roscodog- thinking about it, will let you know in a few minutes

JMP- I think I understand your point but I would rather keep the rules as they are now for two reasons:

1) Easier to determine who is eligible if the rule is by appearance than by real life rookie status

2) The current rules make the spring FA draft much more interesting and important. Since we're going with 40 man rosters I think owners can afford to carry one or two prospects who had bad cards for their first year. We can consider a change next year.

Does not matter, you just have to pick something for strat to allow the pick.
