ATG new card batch #2 teasers

Postby PotKettleBlack » Tue Oct 11, 2011 4:03 pm

Hornsby 24 - 600+ AB+BB - .424 / .507 / .696 for an OPS+ of 222 (absurd) and a 12.3 offensive WAR (tied for 5th all time with Mickey Mantle 56... 3 of the 4 seasons ahead of him are Ruth... 21, 20, 23, and one is some fat head from 2001).

Fox 57 - Played all 155 games - .317 / .403 / .415 - 7.3 total WAR (MVP level)

Very interesting.

Like Roe as a 5 day guy. Depth is nice.

Preacher Roe will used by a few, but scorned by most - without the magic *

Bernie, please make 5-man rotations a more viable option for higher-cap leagues by making non- * SPs a priority for new cards.[/quote:35adeeb2c4]

The problem with your desire is 5 man rotations only have been used the last 25 to 30 years.

and 10 or so of those were the steroid-using monster hitting years.....

the Roe card would be pretty sweet in a pitcher park where all those # become outs.

Maybe someday we'll get Hornsby's best season.

Curious what you think that is. In terms of context, '24 probably is his best season. 222 OPS+, 13 offensive Wins Above Replacement, 12.3 with the bat alone. Relative to the rest of the league, '24 is better than 22, 25, and 29, even though he didn't win MVP or do the triple crown. 22 has more total bases, but either better league hitting or weaker pitching.

That is TSN's sneaky way of making sure you don't use that awful adblock that firefox has.

1925.

1924 28 STL NL 143 640 536 121 227 43 14 25 94 5 12 89 32 .424 .507 .696 1.203 222 373 2 13 *4 MVP-2
1925 29 STL NL 138 605 504 133 203 41 10 39 143 5 3 83 39 .403 .489 .756 1.245 209 381 2 16 *4 MVP-1

143 vs 94 rbi's. Slugging .756 vs .696 OPS 1.245 vs. 1.203, MVP Triple Crown, 39 vs 25 hrs.

I'd like Hornsby hitting cleanup and vying for the league rbi title. Not gonna happen with the '24 card.
