1. I hate Verizon too.

2. Thanks for the middle infielders!!! Nice to see the new
teasers lead with players that aren't corner OFers or 1B.

[quote:d9a89f6755="Petrosian"]1925.

1924 28 STL NL 143 640 536 121 227 43 14 25 94 5 12 89 32 .424 .507 .696 1.203 222 373 2 13 *4 MVP-2
1925 29 STL NL 138 605 504 133 203 41 10 39 143 5 3 83 39 .403 .489 .756 1.245 209 381 2 16 *4 MVP-1

143 vs 94 rbi's. Slugging .756 vs .696 OPS 1.245 vs. 1.203, MVP Triple Crown, 39 vs 25 hrs.

I'd like Hornsby hitting cleanup and vying for the league rbi title. Not gonna happen with the '24 card.[/quote:d9a89f6755]

The number 222 vs 209 is the OPS+ which is saying 1924 was a better year than 1925 in the context of the league. The context of the league determines part of the card.

I would also note that Hornsby would be a 15 game injury risk in 1925.

Additionally, RBIs are completely lineup dependent.

20+ extra hits in 30 extra AB in 24. In a more pitcher friendly park by park factor.

24 is kind of like Ruth 20. You want to take Ruth 27 because of all the HR, but 20 was a better year for Ruth and 24 was a sneaky better year for Rajah. Funny how a .424 batting average can be sneaky better.

I'm not giving Rajah credit for driving in Ray Blades at a higher rate, since Blades was on base .050 more often in 25 than 24. Ditto Sunny Jim. Plus Mike Gonzales was the catcher in 24, Bob O'Farrell in 25, another .040. Overall, the 25 Cards were on base about .012 points more than the 24 edition, with Rajah taking .020 or so off. A lot more opportunity to drive guys in, I think.

agree with Petro, would like to see 1925 for Hornsby as well. Would like to have my choice between the two.

A salary quiz:

Rajah 24 - closer in salary to Rajah 22 or Rajah 29?

Fox 57 - Closer to Gehringer 40 or Evers 08?

Mathewson - Where does he rank among Alexander 15, Johnson 13, Walsh 10, and Brown 08?

Roe - Salary over or under John Donaldson?

My guesses: Rajah 22, Evers, 3rd, and over.

my guess is this 24 is the most expensive Hornsby card. I'll say the new Mathewson just under Walsh 08 right above Tiant 68.

Fox don't care much for but I'll say 7.45M

Roe don't care much for either but I'll say 7.3M

Rajah 24 > $13.6M.

All comparable batting seasons (relative to the league they occurred in are priced above 13.97).

No idea on the others.

(Click on each of the cards to bring them up in their own window if they get cut off in the thread)

If it looks like my Brewers will play Game 3 tonight (the weather's looking dicey in St. Louis), I'll post one more bonus card later this afternoon for good karma.

There [b:20438c50c0]are[/b:20438c50c0] a few Brewers I'd love to see:

1987 Molitor
1980 Oglivie
1978 Hisle
1978 or 1979 Lezcano (the year he was a 1 (-3)
1978 Money
1998 Vina

Braun's rookie year.
