ATG new card batch #2 teasers

Postby The Last Druid » Wed Oct 12, 2011 9:18 pm

I encourage everyone to use that Yount card against me.

Pricing aside, I don't think it really fits anywhere. Don't want a +1 arm for small ball and not enough power for a bomber team where the arm wouldn't matter as much.

I'll draft the card a lot I'm sure, but won't likely ever play it. Fortunately it is upgradeable and the upgrades are useful. So I guess it does have that one use.

So far, I love the Hornsby, Hamilton and McDowell cards. Lukewarm about most of the others. Can't imagine a scenario where I would use the new Eck or Yount cards. But, still glad to get them all; someone will probably find a unique and useful way to employ Eck & Yount. It just won't be me. :P

I think Mathewson 09 might get some play, too. And Nellie 57 will not gather a lot of dust. I'm not sure about the Preacher, but he's certain to be used a lot in live drafts.

So, when the Cards win Suds Series II will Bernie give a bonus Cardinal?

He'd probably give us Ernie Broglie in that scenario.

Nothing wrong with the 1960 Broglio -- led the league in wins, ERA+ and hits per 9 innings.

Something about putting on that blue cap with a red C on the front.

Modmark, the new Yount card would work as a CF lefty platoon in one of your shifting sands leagues :D

The 1982 Robin Yount card was the first I ever drafted in the first serious face to face league i ever played in (had limited competition before with just a few close friends).

New ATG cards batch #2: Teasers Part 3

Postby bernieh » Thu Oct 13, 2011 3:03 pm

Since Petrosian's list of Brewers did include this particular card, I'll post it now:

My "good karma" teaser yesterday obviously didn't work, so let's try this. Here's your stinkin' Cardinal (and a catcher, to boot) (yeah, of course he later spent some time on the Brewers), now can you please let us win a game:

No one really likes this guy as a person, but many think he's underrated as a pitcher:

Here's a guy whose first name I've always wanted to have.

These are the last teasers I'm posting until Monday; I won't be posting any tomorrow. You'll get the full batch of 20 on Monday!
