[b:865714b1bf]Creating the Franchises..............[/b:865714b1bf]
As you can guess, probably half of the teams are not complete; some early century teams dont have enough RP-only guys, some other teams are just not complete because TSN Strat doesnt have all the cards. MAny times, I have placed cheap bench players and RPs, etc to fill out squads.

Also, some guys are integral figures on more than one team. Sometimes this is fixed by placing franchises in the wrong decade: Eddie Collins was integral to the 11 A's and the 19 White Sox, so the White Sox were "moved" to the 1920s season. This occurs more often as we move in to the Free Agent era.

Sometimes I fixed this by either using a fringe player and upgrading to his better card: Rudy York is integral to 46 Red Sox and 40 Tigers, while Earl Averill was a .50 bench player for the Tigers. I upgraded Averill to his 7m card that plays CF and gave York to the Red Sox.

Sometimes I fixed this by using a player who could replicate the missing player: The 29 Cubs had Hornsby and Kiki Cuyler, who were also integral to the Cards and Pirates, respectively. I gave Hornsby to the Cards and Kiki to the Pirates, and I gave the Cubs, Willard Brown and John Beckwith)
[b:865714b1bf]If any team makes the Finals or SemiFinals they will use the original players if possible [/b:865714b1bf](the Cubs in that event would get Kiki and Rogers back)

[b:865714b1bf]THE FRANCHISES ARE NOT EQUAL[/b:865714b1bf]! Some franchises will be very strong, while others will not be as strong.

This is how we will somewhat, but not completely, rectify this.
1-Adding [b:865714b1bf]some [/b:865714b1bf]players in strategic ways to teams
2-Season#1's team draft order will be randomized. Season 2-10's draft orders will be in opposite order of finish of the previous league.

[b:865714b1bf]DIFFERENT CARDS FOR THE SAME PLAYER.[/b:865714b1bf] In MOST instances, you will have the choice of ANY card that represents a player. Sometimes, you will be allowed only 1 card to represent a player, whether it be for competitive balance, historical accuracy, or some other reason that I have come up with :D

[b:865714b1bf]BALLPARKS[/b:865714b1bf]: I have not completed this, but as I see it now, there will only be one ballpark choice for the team in question. Sometimes the ballpark enhances the talent you may have, sometimes it will not. That's life, and that's baseball

[b:865714b1bf]What if new cards are added?[/b:865714b1bf] More cards can only help a league like this, but I will make sure that each added card "works" with what we are trying to do. This will be done on a card-by-card basis.

[b:865714b1bf]Type of League[/b:865714b1bf]: Currently, it appears that the salary cap will be [b:865714b1bf]100m[/b:865714b1bf] though this is not set in stone yet, and we WILL use [b:865714b1bf]DH[/b:865714b1bf]. The "payrolls" will be different for different teams......again that's the way it is...some teams are just BETTER than others

Some guys have asked how this would look, so above I posted the rosters I have put together for the 1900s Season.
I will do similarly with other seasons, striving for a balance between historical accuracy and competitiveness.

Every team will have weaknesses:
The 1927 Yankees have to put Combs' noodle arm in CF and play Joe Dugan at 3b, and they have no great arms, for example
The 1939 Yankees will start Babe Dahlgren at 1b, all .91 of him

At this point in the research, I am strongly considering revising to a [b:f5912c3c8f]90m [/b:f5912c3c8f]cap. The cap will not be huge in creating compettive balance, because there are not a ton of choices for each team----in fact I woudl wager that half of the teams only have 24 cards available, so there will be no choices to make.....

I am not done by any means, but this will give an idea of how this will work.

Looking good so far. I'm thinking the 90M cap would work better for this theme.

We have 12. [b:92241f600c]Let the questions begin[/b:92241f600c]. 8-)
I am not gonna go back and change every team by [b:92241f600c][size=18:92241f600c]ANY MEANS[/size:92241f600c][/b:92241f600c], but the door is [b:92241f600c]slightly [/b:92241f600c]ajar to suggestions. :)

Some have voiced concern over teams not being completely equal salary-wise. I understand that. I hope it will be alleviated to everyone's satisfaction.

[b:92241f600c]I WILL[/b:92241f600c]:
Make [b:92241f600c]EVERY [/b:92241f600c]effort to make sure teams are as equal as possible, [b:92241f600c]WITHOUT [/b:92241f600c]adulterating the year team theme

So, yes, you may get "stuck" with the 24 Dodgers (I actually think they will be pretty good) in the 1920s league, but [b:92241f600c]fear not[/b:92241f600c], for two reasons:
-they will be structured to be as [b:92241f600c]competitive [/b:92241f600c]as possible
-the manager with the worst record in 1920s league will get [b:92241f600c]FIRST PICK[/b:92241f600c] of the 1930s squads

ANOTHER POINT---[b:92241f600c]none [/b:92241f600c]of these teams will stink, and [b:92241f600c]ALL [/b:92241f600c]of these teams will have weaknesses somewhere

With that said, I am probably gonna dump the 1930 Phillies and look for a more competitive 1930s team to add. The 1930s Phillies, Chuck Klein, and the ENTIRE National League went nuts offensively in 1930, which is why I wanted to include them. However, one reason the NL went nuts in 1930 was they got to feast on [b:92241f600c]PHILLIES PITCHING[/b:92241f600c]. :D
