[quote:8aa700c271="nevdully's"][quote:8aa700c271]Funny that anyone thought to check my ratings. [/quote:8aa700c271]

Welcome to a small step of walking a mile in my shoes. Where every day I get someone that says "Nev I see that you do that when you draft" "I see you posted that" "Nev remember you said such and such two years ago" "I notice you like filling a league late" "I see you spend about X amount on pitching"

Names I barely recognize seem to examine every move I make.

Guys that rarely post find a way into my threads, often just to dig at me either directly or indirectly, or just to ask a seemingly innocent question.

Frank Bailey once told me even though the trade I offered helped him a lot he wasn't going to do it because it helped me too....

Another told me "I looked at this trade for twenty minutes and I can't figure out why you want so and so" But I gotta decline because I must be missing something if you want so and so?

Another (ZakT) told me after 6 leagues and a sterling winning pct of about .450 on his resume to "pound salt" and "go find another newbie to take advantage of" when I told him using Williard Brown (4 E 36) at SS was a losing proposition in 200m (maybe any cap).

MBBW and Valen say context is important...Of course it is...But I guess they don't think that of the 40 active teams I run and thousand+
completed seasons I had, bringing thousands and thousands of trade offers and counters, that the few trades I post as examples, well, ahh, umm. what do I know, maybe I just didn't understand their context.

People assume a lot about me...but they lack context too.[/quote:8aa700c271]

Nev -I have nothing but good things to say about you. Anytime I asked you for advice, you were always willing. Personally, I think you and Petro should have your own SOM advice threads. Sort of like a Dear Abby or Dear Ann Landers, only for SOM addicts.

I dedicate this song to you...

Behind Blue Eyes Lyrics
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you

No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool

If I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
If I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

I'd rather be Dr. Bruce. But if not, then Dr. Mercola.

Back on topic...

Speaking of wish lists, I am wondering if there will be an ATG7 release?

I really do not expect much these days from TSN, but I wonder if any of the previous requests or requests from the actual "wish-list" are going to were addressed. Over the last few years, new versions of ATG were released around Nov-Dec.

[quote:3489850d3a="motherscratcher"]Mizzy - why would you want to limit transactions after waivers? I could be off but it seems like I routinely miss out on around 8 or so players in the autodraft. Replacing them might mean overhauling half your team. The preseason is the fun part for me. I like getting that train set up and then giving it a shove. The actual season is just standing back and watching to see how far down the track it gets before it derails. I generally see very few moves after the season starts, and the teams making those moves are usually the ones that have a fork sticking out of them anyway.

Joe - What is the black box. What is Home Field Advantage?[/quote:3489850d3a]

Black Box:

There are some things that aren't on the cards that you can't adequately account for. This link has some explanation for the options that are available.

http://somonline.wikia.com/wiki/Comparisons_to_CD-ROM_Game

It mentions under Home Field Advantage:

[i:3489850d3a]This option forces a statistical advantage of approximately 10 points (.010) on the batting average for the home team. This is the traditional major league difference between batting averages at home and on the road. [/i:3489850d3a]

How is that exactly done to the home teams player cards? We don't know much more than what I posted above. It would be nice to see what that does to the actual card.

Pitcher Around is another. It says:

[i:3489850d3a]It's late in the game, the score is tied, and the opposing team's slugger is at the plate. First base is open but you're not convinced you should issue an intentional walk. Now's the perfect time to use the new "Pitch-Around" strategy! This strategy will cut the offensive player's power and batting average down dramatically. However, using this strategy will also dramatically increase the chances that you will walk the batter.

The pitch around strategy may only be used from the 7th inning on when there are 2 outs, first base is open and the tying or go-ahead run is on base or at bat. When the pitch around option is available the message "PitchAround" or "PA" will appear on the screen around the pitcher's mound. To pitch around a batter click on the icon used for intentional walks or select the "Int Walk or Pitch Around" menu item. You will then be asked if you wish to intentionally walk or pitch around the batter.[/i:3489850d3a]

How does this work? Again, we don't know how it effects the cards.

Transparent would mean to explain how this works based on the cards. If it can't be done, then either make these [b:3489850d3a]"black box"[/b:3489850d3a] items optional or turn them off.

[quote:25c936fb4a="drfreeze49"]1. That waivers [b:25c936fb4a]could run the next day at 5 PM[/b:25c936fb4a] EST instead of the following day at 5.

2. That we could [b:25c936fb4a]sort on triples [/b:25c936fb4a]when looking at free agents.

3. That we could select [b:25c936fb4a]any amount of $$$ to sort[/b:25c936fb4a] on ie 1.5 or less or any number

4. That we could [b:25c936fb4a]trade draft choices.[/b:25c936fb4a]

5. That we could [b:25c936fb4a]make trades that do not conform to salary requirements [/b:25c936fb4a]and some how the players involved on your team are [b:25c936fb4a]ineligible until you get to the cap.[/b:25c936fb4a]

6.[b:25c936fb4a] Home field[/b:25c936fb4a] advantage turned [b:25c936fb4a]off [/b:25c936fb4a]

That's all for now maybe others could add...or maybe tell me I am crazy[/quote:25c936fb4a]

My thoughts:

1. Next day waivers: Don't like it as some might not get a chance to set waiver picks. Particularly if the draft runs at or near midnight, some might be in bed and not check before work/have time to make waiver picks.

2. Sort by triples: Like this.

3. Sort by $$$$: Another one I would like.

4. Trade draft choices: No problem with it if it is an easy add. Don't want this at the expense of other things.

5. Don't see this as an easy thing to do and think there must be better ways to accomplish the goal. If someone swaps a catcher making their new second catcher ineligible, would their first catcher be bulletproof while the only catcher on the roster? If so, people might want to have him stay ineligible. If I swap a set of RP's could I be left with just one or two and have an easy loophole to push 250+ innings to Sutter?

6. Undecided on homefield advantage.
