[quote:47fe392cdb="AeroDave10"]Quick note on Pujols to Detroit - NO WAY! ... What happens to Miguel Cabrera (signed through 2015), Victor Martinez (signed through 2014), and Alex Avila (under team control 3-4 more years)??[/quote:47fe392cdb]
True those. The V-Mart signing, especially, moved them out of the Pujols discussion, since I think it's unlikely that Pujols or Cabrera will move back to third anytime soon.
I think he could hit for average and doubles in Comerica (with division games at Target, The Cell, The Jake, and the Kauff). But yeah, take them off the list.
Use the Cubs threat as leverage against the Cards.
On the Rangers: Faith in Moreland, except that you could move him to a corner OF spot. No obligation, and could possibly trade him for pitching if you had an Albert. Napoli is in his final arb year, so could get very expensive from a base salary of $5.8 given the second half he put up (seriously, best hitter in ball over the second half). Michael Young... there's the real problem with Albert to Texas... 2 years, $16/ left.
The shame of it for Albert is the timing. If he'd been out last year, he'd've landed in Boston, gotten Carl Crawford + Adrian Gonzalez money, and been in a park where he'd do massive damage. In 09, He'd've had suitors in Boston and the Bronx and would be making in excess of A-Rod money. 2008, and the Yankees would have let ARod walk and signed Pujols to ARod money. I think the Cards are lucky, in that the massive spenders are either broke, set at 1B, or developing young stars there, oh, and Prince Fielder is also free.
