I actually could get Sid back with a couple of tweaks to the lineup.... I'm going to take a look at it and see if it make sense. Somebody immediately picked him up but then dropped him...

Sid back on the team...

Ok, I've done a bit of shuffling to gain cash and now Sid is back on the team. We'll see how he does! With Grich and Sid, I'm hoping to my cake and eat it too...sort of like Sid always managed to do. :D Picked up Dave Collins while I was at it (trading in Leon Roberts to get some of the cash.)
And I agree about Grich. Some folks say he's over-priced but not in his best years and you usually know if he's in one of those pretty soon. I actually like his 7R year, too, since he can platoon with somebody like Buechele and hit RHP a ton. And he's better than most 2B's in his .813 year, so arguably, he's a keeper in 4 of 5 years. I even kept through is off year once and only realized it much later when the info on the seasons was added.

Fat Sid has been great on my new Royals team, so thanks--bjs and others-- for the nudge. Grich has been just OK, but check out the team OBP! I clearly got lucky with some of my hitters. :D

Those are my boys, Outta, but they're playing above their "pythagorean winning percentage." I read about that term in a recent book about the '04 Red Sox called "Mind Game." Congrats, baracus68, on the Chekhovs--they looked like a great team from the start. I've seen a lot of teams out-play (or under perform) their pythagorean projections all season long, so a sag is not necessarily in the cards for the Chekhovs--as long as they stay out of that Cherry Orchard and avoid low flying Seagulls.... Fortunately, you don't have Dave Winfield on your team. :D
This is a pretty interesting league all around. Lots of extremes. For example, one might think that my team ERA of 3.81 would make me first or second in ER allowed but actually I'm ranked fourth. The best pitching team, the Twins, has a truly amazing 2.79 ERA (in the Astrodome). I just ran into that pitching buzz-saw last night and saw my team OBP drop by three points. If the Twins hold that ERA, they would be the all time leaders. Yet despite the good pitching in the league, steal third's Buegills have a classic slugging offense in the Murph, with a .524 SLG and .376 OBP (amazing for the park.) Add that up and you get a [b:1ea8ed4efd] TEAM [/b:1ea8ed4efd] OPS of .900 even! Not surprisingly, despite my high team OBP, the Bullgills are well ahead of me in runs scored (as are the Chekhovs).
So there are a lot of extreme teams in the league and it should be an interesting season![/b]
