new Billy Hamilton?

Postby MtheB » Tue Nov 01, 2011 8:30 am

you are complaining about how Hamilton is not performing, yet look at the rest of your team---IROD is hitting .148 and Sisler is hitting .198--maybe its not Hamiltons card thats the issue, maybe your team is facing alot of aces.

the reality is in the higher salary leagues, which that team is in, you are often facing 10 mill + starters all the time.

Expecting a player to hit anywhere near his card when he is facing killer starters each time out is a waste of time.

well certainly higher than 80 Mill.....

judging from his whole team, he is probably playing in alot of pitchers parks and facing alot of aces.
or the dice rolls are just funky.

or all the cards are cursed.

who knows.

Question

Postby 216 Stitches » Tue Nov 01, 2011 1:31 pm

[quote="mighty moose"] Set to steal, bunt, run aggressively and playing leadoff as DH. Yeah park is Petco, but shouldnt affect his OBP that much.

To bunt?

I might be missing something here... but when he is bunting he is
not getting a roll on his card anymore. He can't get any walks if
he attempts to bunt. Bunting would seem to impact his OBP in
a negative way, at least for a card like Hamiltons.

Or am I missing something?

That's probably why I suck at this game. He's a "B" at bunting and hit and run so I set him to bunt and h/r more. I can try it your way and switch these off. However, 24 games and he's only attempted 4 steals and got caught twice ?

I'll switch off his bunting and h/r and let's see if this makes any diff.

The HnR rules also work against very good hitters. Actually, good hitters, which is ironic, since mostly good contact bats are the HnR guys.

Bunting takes a good bat out of a good batter's hands. Kind of like Ron Washington making Elvis Andrus sac bunt to move Kinsler over in game 7. It's a sac bunt control, not a bunt for hit. But since bunt goes up to A, I'd keep his bunting bat in the dugout and let him hit.

Bunting

I agree with Kettle there is absolutely no reason to be bunting or hit and running with a .400 hitter, u turn him into a .280 hitter.

Or worse yet, a .241 hitter

I made all those adjustments and he is still only hitting .227. (Dont bunt, don't H/R) - I can't WAIT for reverse normalization to kick in. He should start hitting .700 then to catch up.
