The real question on trading is this:

would you trade Catwoman (Julie Newmar version) for Jeannie (Barbara Eden) even up?

Had not thought of the old catwoman in a long time. Interesting trade there. I always liked Eden's bubbly personality though.

Well, here is the real question behind the real question:

Do thier powers come with, or is it the actress I'm trading for?

If Powers come with, Im takin' Jeannie hands down. No powers, MEOW, Julie Newmar wins.

And V- counting the number of people that complained about trades is sort of like counting the number of people that complain to a restaurant about their food. Approximately 1 in 10 voice their opinion and the rest just dont come back for another meal.

...and RBW- wish it were as simple as having a nice discussion with the other manager about what your thoughts are about the trade. I (and a few others) often send a note after declining a trade as to why, and in many cases a counter.
A few people take this as an opportunity to discuss (which is the most fun part for me), some people don't respond at all, some people respond with a better some worse offer, and some people just get pissed off that you deigned to tell them something.

[color=darkblue:af1d7cad6f]If you are getting traumatized by getting bad trade offers, you are taking this game way too seriously and you should consider going to therapy.[/color:af1d7cad6f][/quote:af1d7cad6f]

Wait....aren't you the guy that "quit" several months back because you got very upset over consistently bad autodrafts? That is the definition of taking it seriously. Will we be sharing a couch in these therapy sessions or have you already been there and have now become a counselor?

Listen, I seriously don't waste more than three seconds hitting the decline button and moving on. I don't pace around my office waving my hands in the air and I don't punch the wall. I come on the forums and someone makes mention of a bad trade and every once in awhile I think, "oh yeah, I just got a good one" and add it to the thread in the interest of supporting commentary. Should I just keep my fingers away from the keyboard and not post it...probably. Maybe I should have posted it as "I got an offer of Hodges for Bagwell is this a good deal" thus making it look like I am not "complaining". Is this whining, not sure.....if you weed out all of the randomization requests and new league signups then ninety percent of the threads could be defined as "whining".

And to Valen......my original comment only took ninety seconds to draft but elicited three consecutive and lengthy responses from you, maybe I am the one that is being "entertained"[/quote:af1d7cad6f]

The statement you made about me is partially true. I always complain about bad auto-drafts since I started playing 5 years ago. However, the main reason I stopped playing was due to game cost. I purchased 2 credits prior to the Holloween sale in about a year. I purchased 4 - 5packs during the sale, so don't worry, I will be around for a few months.

Unfortunately, your comparison between me complaining about "the game" and complaints about trade offers are 2 totally different issues.

When I complain, I am complaining about customer service issues. If I am paying $20/$25 per game, I expect good customer service and that the game is continually being improved upon.

When you complain about "bad" trade offers, IMO it's just silly. (btw-I don't mean you personally-I am not going back to see if you really complained about an offer - I just don't care.)

Trading is part of the game. Some of the best players in real baseball can't hit a lick in SOM. Why? I have no idea. But they always seem to wind up on my team. It's easy to make an offer that looks good on paper, but doesn't wash in the world of SOM.

I have gotten a lot of offers thta I didn't like over the last 5 years. Big Deal. Reject the offer. Make a counter-offer. You're not obligated, but send them an email. I know if I send someone an offer they don't like, I ask them to throw out a counter-offer.

I can tell you the one thing I hate is not when some makes an offer I don't like, but when someone makes a bad counter-offer to an offer I made them to make a point. To me, that's just starting a fight.

Wolverines approach to trading is one of the reasons I always pay extra attention when he posts available players. I do not make a lot of offers because our choices are very different so even when he shops someone I like usually do not have anything I believe he would want or which would work in his ballpark/roster. But it is nice to talk trade with such people because I know he is not going to try embarrassing me on the boards if cannot come to agreement.

There is a lot to be said for the class he shows and respect he affords his fellow managers.

Valen, just for the record. When I post an email for "available" players, it is for players I prefer to trade first if I can. I am usually open to trading other players I don't list as well. (there are only a couple of players I consider untouchable if I am lucky to get them.) So, if we are in a league together & you see an email from me regarding available players & there's someelse you may be interested, just ask.
