ATG VI New Card Batch #3 drops Thu, Nov. 17

Teasers will be touch and go until then. Mostly because I'm actually not sure if some of the cards I'm trying to line up for this batch will be ready in time.

But you'll get some teasers, at least. Just not on a daily basis.

New ATG cards batch #3: Teasers Part 1

Postby bernieh » Fri Nov 11, 2011 2:55 pm

Hey! Hear's some teasers for ya. 20 new cards, coming Thursday, Nov. 17. Including:

Middle infielders seem to be in high demand, so here's one (a flippin' ss-1e4!), and there'll be more:

And then this guy, now you can shut up about him.

Enjoy, Happy Veterans Day, and have a great weekend!

I hereby vow to play gates brown only in LF vs. lefties AND against teams that have a lot of speed.
BTW-
I actually think we now have a reasonable amount of middle inf's, but I wont whine with more.

Interesting splits for Gates Brown... I was curious how badly he fared against lefties that year to generate a card like that-- he was 1 for 2, with no strikeouts.

Also, his clutch rating seems pretty low in light of the year he had, when he had a huge year as a pinch-hitter in clutch situations. According to baseball-reference.com, in "late and close" situations, he hit .485/ .564/ .939 in 39 plate appearances, and was 4-for-10 with 2 outs and men in scoring position.

Here's his splits for the year: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?id=brownga01&year=1968&t=b

1 for 2 suggests a managerial understanding that he couldn't hit lefties for beans, so went unused. I'd suggest it would promote his use as he was used...

Interesting platoon with Jesus Alou.

From everything I've ever heard, the "clutch" rating in SOM is a misnomer that has nothing to do with real-life "clutch hitting", but rather it is something put in place to adjust a player's RBI production to help match his card output to the real-life statistics from that year.

Maybe at DH...
I think with a plus 4 arm, balls that gets hit to LF means that even Mac will score, not that Id ever call him slow-footed.
