Important distinction on "scam" starters

Postby GFDWARF07 » Thu Nov 17, 2011 10:55 am

No scam starters
Any player that had fewer than 100 AB cannot be in a starting lineup. This means Held and Hicks cannot be in a regular starting lineup, but they can pinch hit and they can be in a starting lineup to replace an injured starter.

This primarily impacts my Mets and the Pirates in our division. Duffy Dyer is a 3.91M pinch hitter/back-up C if I shoose to keep him. Dave Cash is the only other notable scammer in our division.

Be sure to check your rosters and adjust your sights accordingly for this!

Is that right, Franky? Could I ast least platoon Dyer?

Gordie is aware he's up and will be back late afternoon to make a pick - just a heads-up.

Tom Hutton is another player impacted by the scam rule - he would normally only platoon against lefties, but the way the rule is written he cannot start.

And Sam Bowens with the Nats...

And the Braves are double whammied with

Tito "get me some tissues" Francona

and

Tommie "can you see me" Aaron

Frankie,

I understand that because I have the Orioles I will not be participating in the eight rounds of draft picks. I was wondering if at a later time I will have the opportunity to make some roster changes if I stay within the salary cap?

Thanks

Rick

[quote:c5642f46ae="franky35"]Salary Cap
The Orioles are set - no free agent picks for the O's. This means that Frank Bertania, Tom Phoebus, etc. stay on the Orioles. Everyone else gets up to 8 free agent picks up to a total salary of 94.16 mil. .[/quote:c5642f46ae]

I think you have to "play them as they lie", Rick... No free agents or roster changes for the birds.

Rick, I tried to be clear with the O's, since they have a $0 free agent cap, they can never have a free agent. The only way for the O's to change their roster is to trade. If you're really dissatisfied with the O's, I'd be happy to swap them for my Red Sox; but we'd need approval from the other owners for that.

Regarding Dyer, Hutton, Held, Hicks etc. If a player had fewer than 100 AB, they cannot be in a regular starting lineup. This means they cannot platoon. They can't start against lefties or righties unless there is an injury to a regular player. These players can pinch hit, be a defensive replacement, and they can be in a starting lineup to replace an injured player. To give an example, let's say your regular RF is Clemente but he gets a 15 game injury. During that 15 game injury, Hicks can be put in the starting lineup; when Clemente returns to health, Hicks go back on the bench.

I think there would be no shortage of owners ready to swap for the O's...

Whoa, the Indians! At the last minutes the Phillies lost their #1 draft position. I see three top free agents in the general free agent draft: Reggie, Killebrew and Bando.
