[i:d6e2f069d3]I had some guys who wanted to play this theme league again. So for the second time in this set (2010) we're launching this theme league. The only change will be a different SP than Andrew Miller. Season VI(b) will be named for Charlie Morton. Not the worst pitcher in the set, but close to the worse, and a recognizable name.[/i:d6e2f069d3]

[b:d6e2f069d3]Charlie Morton Theme League Rules: [/b:d6e2f069d3]

1. Nobody can own any SP over $1M. If you own a SP/RP over $1M he must be used in relief only. The penalty for an SP/RP over $1M starting will be benching your highest salaried hitter for 1 series (3 games) the next time you play that opponent. If you don't play that opponent again, then the next series. Note: This penalty doesn't apply if there's an injury forcing someone else to start. Additionally, Jeff Francis at $1mil exactly is eligible.

2. Important: The max number of SP's $1M and under is Five. You may, however, draft more than 5 but the excess must be dropped as soon as possible. This rule is so there will be no platoon starters.

3. Everyone will play in 1 of 4 stadiums, with no duplicate stadium within a Division. When you sign-up you place yourself in a Division and list your park. These are the 4 stadiums to be used:

A) US Cell
B) Coors
C) Yankee
D) Rangers

4. Other than all your starters being less than $1M, everyone else can play. SP/RP's over 1mil are ok, but obviously can be used in relief only.

5. How you fill out your draft card will be crucial. Some things I can think of are:

a. Do you try and pick the best SP's under one Mil
b. Do you try and get the best relievers
c. Do you go for the sluggers

This will be fun to say the least, especially those who love Hitting.

Now, the name of the league is the Charlie Morton Theme League. I'm sure you've been asking yourself why did he name the league that? Has Jeep lost it? The answer is no, although debatable.

Here's why:

Charlie Morton is one of the worst pitchers in the deck. ERA of 7.57 and WHIP of 1.73. So he gets the honor of naming rights.

[b:d6e2f069d3]---Here's what everyone must do to comply with the theme--- [/b:d6e2f069d3]

* Everyone, all 12 Owners must put Morton on their draft card at the 25th and last spot. So someone will get Morton, won't they? Obviously yes.

* The owner who gets him must keep him and use him for the entire season, never dropping him. No trading him either. Very important: Morton must start every 5th day. So if you have a *SP he can't be used in a way to limit Miller's starts.

* The owner who gets him as a "reward" gets to claim any player not drafted after the AD and before waivers. IOW, that owner essentially has a free #1 waiver pick, as no owners may put a claim on the player the Morton owner declares. So Morton actually becomes a "reward" for the Manager who gets him. In addition: That owner doesn't have to waist a waiver spot on that declared player. They get him free of charge so to speak and will do waivers as normal. Please declare your reward player in a "timely manner" before waivers.

1 - One Owner will own Charlie Morton
2 - No Owner may have more than 5 SP's 1mil and under on his roster. IOW, exactly 5 will be rostered.
3 - Any reliever can be used/rostered including SP/RP's but obviously those pitchers (over 1mil) can't start a game.
4 - All owners [b:d6e2f069d3]MUST[/b:d6e2f069d3] list Morton in the 25th spot on their draft cards. Please do not forget this - it is a must!

Lastly: I'm not saying (like I normally do) "Vets preferred"; however, I prefer players who have done theme leagues before and can be trusted to apply above rules including, but not limited to, putting Morton in the 25th spot of their draft card.
