Starters with Relief Ratings

Starters with Relief Ratings

Postby ebbets1957 » Sat Nov 26, 2011 11:12 am

When using a 5 man rotation with non * starters, what settings do you use to get Hal to use these pitchers in relief when they are not starting? I guess this is what you call the super reliever concept? Also, is their durabilty affected?

I never can seem to get Hal to pitch them??

Help!

Thanks!

Hal will generally not use a guy in relief if he has a scheduled start in 3 games. I was able to have HAL use Babe Adams at F0 in the game directly after his start. The problem with going five S/R no-star and hoping to use them as a bullpen, is that you don't have five slots for closers/setup guys.

To super relieve with Babe, you want to spot start him in a rotation of four star guys. There are a number of threads about maximizing Babe.

Basically, you don't want to schedule a starter-reliever that you want to relieve until the last minute. Usually you want to use him in game 2 of a 3-game series, and do not set him to start until that series is next on your schedule. That way, you can also schedule him to start game 1 of a series if he did not pitch both of the previous two games.

Getting this to work properly is a pain. At least the game engine is realistic in that regard!
