RAISE THE MOUND ATG VI - LEAGUE FORMED AND LOADING

Postby GFDWARF07 » Sun Dec 04, 2011 12:31 am

We recently completed the regular season in a 1969 league where no hitters were allowed over $2M and pitching ruled the earth. It was a very fun format and a few owners have expressed interest in playing a variation of this theme in the ATG VI game. This sign-up is now opened up to any owner that will participate conscientiously in the league (keeping up with the draft, sticking to the theme, etc.).

For those who are unfamiliar with the ATG player set:

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/stratomatic/about/research.html
The rules will be as follows:

1. 12 teams, $100M cap, waivers
2. No DH (pitchers will bat 9th)
3. All hitters must be valued at $1.00M and below
4. No limits on pitchers' salaries - the game's all-time greats will mow down the dregs of the ATG set
5. Normal ATG games rules apply - see the rules and FAQ. there are some differences in this game vs. the 1969 game, including a much more comprehensive stats package, bullpen, hitter and pitcher preferences and game play functions. You even get to see dice roll results for each hitter!
6. We will hold a 16 round draft on Diamond Dope and remaining roster spots will be filled via the autodraft card - draft order will be via randomizer run by third party
7. In the ATG game multiple card years may exist for some players. Owners can switch to other cards within the cap rules and as long as no hitters card above 1.00M is ever used.
8. Trades are allowed, as are free agent moves, all within the ATG game's rules (80% rule for free agent moves), but with 100M cap, should have some room to make some moves as the season progresses
9. Divisions will be by draft order - East is teams picking 1, 4, 7, 10; Central is 2, 5, 8, 11 and West is 3, 6, 9, 12
10. Mandatory parks for each division as follows:

ALL East teams will play in Memorial Stadium '57 (7, 3, 1, 1)
ALL Central teams will play in Astrodome '78 (3, 3, 2, 2)
ALL West teams will play in Dodger Stadium '64 (4, 7, 1, 1)

Should be fun to see what kind of an ERA Greg Maddux or Pete Al;exander end up with! And whether anyone will hit .300!

PLEASE SIGN UP!

Thanks!

If this were a Diamond Dope draft, I would like to draft more players. However, these drafts on the boards are sometimes painful to monitor and keep having to check back due to no automatic proxies, etc.
To recap: if there isn't a diamond dope draft, I would vote to stick with the 12 player draft.

I am open to more rounds drafting and to doing it via DD. I had just seen some rumblings lately that DD might go away, so had not made any assumptions. I will edit the sign-up above to be a 16 round draft and assume we do it via DD.

RJ, my feeling on fewer rounds is that we will reach a point of diminishing return draft-wise, as many of the <1M hitters are somewhat similar. Maybe 16 is a fair balance.

Can anybody further describe the differences between atg and 1969?Also if you draft a guy that has more than one card u can switch series to series with no consequences?Or because of everybody having pitcher parks switching would be so rare it wont matter? Also is auto draft just ranking guys for last 9 spots getting whomever you get and then waivers and frenzy?I have been almost exclusively playing with u hardcore 69 guys with the real time drafts.
