If Sutter is getting 300+ innings, he will be tired for a bunch of them, even within the game mechanics. Sort of a built in penalty. Personally, I prefer when he gets around 200 innings. I don't believe in leaving him in when he hits F7.

Could someone post a link to this league?

Sounds like my league Petro. Got mail from one of the team owners about a week ago mentioning how I circumvented the 'mechanics'...

Tell me how to post the link to the league and I'll do it.

Not really sure why I need to defend myself but I didn't figure this out. Imitation is the most sincerest form of flattery. There've been numerous posts on this board on how to get max innings on RPs and other RPs have pitched a lot more innings than him. You just need to take a look at the record books...

He pitched in 102 games in this league and he's an R3. Divide innings by # of games and he averages 3.25 innings for each game he pitched. Not sure how that is messing w/the 'mechanics' of the game.

And yes, Mr. Sutter won MVP, Cy Young and the Rolaids award, and was top All-star vote-getter (for ALL positions), apparently much to the chagrin of some of my league mates.

[quote:ae2b04fcde="rburgh"]The game flaws are known, and in time will be corrected. It's very difficult to write an AI algorithm that will take into account all of the many things necessary to manage a Strat-O-Matic team. And this doesn't even mention the need to account for the managerial styles of all of the players active on this site.[/quote:ae2b04fcde]

The thing that really prevents "realism" in SOM wasn't even mentioned in this very good post by rburgh is the team salary caps. If you want realism, play $60M leagues with generation-limited player pools. Otherwise, be content with what happens when you stick a half dozen Hall of Famers coming from across generations on every manager's team.
