Outfield Issues ??

Postby dalekeener » Mon Dec 05, 2011 9:15 am

I may be answering my own question...anyway...

In US Cellular my outfield consists of:

LF-D. Young (LF3)
CF- Wells (CF3)
RF-Abreu (RF4)

Wells and Young are hitting fine strong (high slg%) and Abreu is getting on base.

However, the last couple of series they are coughing up games with doubles, triples.....should I look to make some changes?? I am tied for the wild card 6 games out of first at the 42 game mark. My pitching is strong Johnson, Latos, Santana, Fister, Gallardo...I have "2"'s up the middle at ss and 2b..Am I playing with fire having that type of fielding outfield....

Having a "3" in CF and a "4" in RF is a big problem. In the OF, this also means that Flyball X that would land in the gloves of 1s and 2s will land and get by and become doubles and triples.

Just my 2c.

I have often won with weak fielding OF's( two 3's or a 3/4 with a 1 or 2)

In this years set I have used [b:c6cc40cd45]Byrd[/b:c6cc40cd45] and Wells with good success. I platooned them in a 100M league and then tracked them game by game and they allowed 3 hits off range all season(two 2b and a 3b) with no E's...team won 95 games.

If I play a 3 in CF he has to have low E's and an arm...no Jay's or Colvin's allowed

I also must have a 1/1 or a 1/2 combo in the middle IF if I play a 3 in CF
