I'm not sure I understand. The message appears to be accurate: "not enough cash available"

Maybe he misread name and thought he was trading for Brigitte Nielsen? :D

Scott Nielsen

I'll admit I have a blind spot when it comes to which minimum salary SP I want to satisfy roster requirements. Scott Nielsen is the one and only name on the list. He's the same age as me, we attended BYU at the same time, plus he was part of the best team they ever had - Wally Joyner, Cory Snyder, Rick Aguilera and Peter Kendrick.

Don't trade him!

I have sent this type offer before. Reason is as ggrover suggests. I wanted to clear some cap space to go after certain players in waivers. So I identify a player who someone might want but is expendable for me and send offers out to anyone and everyone who has a cheapo guy on their roster.

It sounds like I need to fill in the blanks, to give some context here.

It's a $100,000,000 league, pre-waivers. There's no way this trade could ever happen, so why even send it? I think "clearing cap space" makes sense in a $200,000,000 or live draft league, but at this salary cap? We need to spend every last nickle to stay competitive. If he wants money to spend elsewhere, the logical thing to do is drop the Bird before waivers 5 PM Wednesday.

It all depends on how much he needs to clear, especially in a 100 mil league where there is always a lot of good cards available. If he had a really bad draft and got a lot of consolations he does not feel fit his park he may be wanting to clear room to make multiple changes in waivers.

Yes, he could just drop Fidrych, but he may be hoping to move him for a cheapo freeing some money and then drop someone else to free additional money.

Overall though I fail to see the harm he has done you by sending this offer. Maybe he just wanted to see if he could get you to go whining to the boards if he sent an offer that was heavily in your favor.
