Batting Order Ideas

Hmmm, I hate spending money on pitching.

Gardner has cement shoes.

Weaver is a possibility.

I want to keep my average speed above 15.8.

I like your team a lot. The only thing I can think of to consider would be Joe Evans. He seems to perform well for me as a good cheap DH. I've been wanting to try Frog Redus there as well.

Royals '80 is the main park I've used so far. Most people use Forbes '57. Is there any difference between those two parks when trying to construct a team?

You're a few dollars short of upgrading to the '75 Carew.....I use that card a lot as a DH with quite a bit of success. To echo AeroDave, when playing smallball solid starters are integral to winning. I have put together teams that are nearly identical to the one you are fielding and while you out "single" every other team your runs scored are still going to be relatively low. You will find yourself consistently getting 10-15 hits in a game while only scoring 3-4 runs.....which means you can't have a pitching staff that gives up 5+ runs a game.

Here is current lineup

Vs RH/LH
Jimmie Wilson
Sisler (cheaper one)
Lajoie (600AB one)
Pie Traynor
Wagner (09 one)
Heilmann
Duffy
Cobb
Carew/Burns

SPs
Spahn
Camnitz (12)
Tiant ($4.8M)
Sadecki ($3M one)

RPs
McMahon
Hank Robinson
Clear
Shirley
Worrell

Average speed 15.8, range 11, errors 100, +.470 OBP and over 1.000 OPS both sides.

OF arms are weak, and Wagner & Cobb injury risk, these are the only short comings it seems, OF arms are 0 -2 0.

Upgrade of Carew would be nice, but the trade-off is not there IMHO.
