As I said in the teaser thread leading up to ATG New Card Batch #4 (which debuted yesterday), I'm posting this new thread to officially take your requests for cards we can "poach" from some of our other sets. These sets specifically include:
[b:6197e63aec]FantaSim, The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s, 1986, 1999, 2001-2010.[/b:6197e63aec]
The background, again:
Strat-O-Matic Co. has entered their big development push leading up to the launch of version 17 of their CD-ROM Baseball game due out in early 2012, so they don't have the time to deliver new cards to us for the online game. They did give us a bigger batch earlier, so I do have a reserve stash, but to be honest, they're getting less and less exciting as I deal out the fun ones to you each month.
Thus I've been trying to be resourceful and improvise, scavenging around in our other sets to see what cards I can poach from them. The upside is I'm able to be a bit more nimble, targeting specific requests I've been hearing from you guys, and turning them around more quickly.
The downside is that [b:6197e63aec]FantaSim[/b:6197e63aec] - where any pre-1970 cards are to be found - [b:6197e63aec]is an old game[/b:6197e63aec], and the cards I mine from it are not necessarily the most recent cards that Strat-O-Matic has produced. In some cases, SOM has since produced a true Super-Advanced set of cards for the season in question, and in some other cases, they've since updated their method of computer-processing non-SA cards for us. In any case, for example, I know for a fact that the cards we added with Batch #4 for Arky Vaughan and Nap Lajoie that I mined from FantaSim are NOT the same as the ones most recently available in the CD-ROM game.
They're STILL Arky Vaughan 1935 and Nap Lajoie 1901, though, and are the ones that have been powering FantaSim for all these years. And they're the only ones that I can present to you at this time. I only hesitated because from what I can tell, this version of Arky Vaughan has significantly more HR power than the one I see in the CD-ROM game. I'm guessing that the majority of you don't mind [i:6197e63aec]that[/i:6197e63aec] much, as long as he's Arky Vaughan. It should be made clear that we've introduced a lot of OTHER cards in ATG that were taken straight from FantaSim. There wasn't considerable opinion that I should NOT have added the cards, or should not add them going forward, but I'll still keep my ears open.
So, with that in mind, feel free to browse through the cards we have in the sets I listed above and pick the ones you'd most like to see added to ATG in one of our upcoming monthly new card batches. The final decisions will be mine as always, but the first ones that would be targeted for addition would be the more popularly-requested ones, naturally. And I'll probably need a volunteer or two to moderate and/or summarize this thread for me, whether it's george barnard (who has been [i:6197e63aec]incredibly[/i:6197e63aec] helpful in the process so far and you should all thank him) or someone else.
Here's the handy links to the card browsers for each of our "Mystery Card" sets. You should be able to access them without having a team in them. [b:6197e63aec]NOTE[/b:6197e63aec] that all ratings (fielding, stealing, running, bunting, h&r, balk, wp, hold) in these sets are an [b:6197e63aec]average[/b:6197e63aec] applied across 5 of each player's cards, and would be trumped by the actual ratings found for each single card in the CD-ROM game (of which I can't provide you a reference).
FantaSim - note that the individual cards aren't viewable in this game, by design. The most important thing is you can see which ones there are.

This thread will be culled at various intervals that give me time to craft the requests into batches and formulate the salaries.
Happy hunting!
