I personally think it will make you a better Strat manager if EVERYONE gets a card.

ie. Alonso
Let's say he's priced @ $9 million.
He'll need a platoon.

If he rakes, fantastic. Who cares about realism? This isn't reality. It's fantasy.
If you want realism, when guys reach their max. AB's or IP's, their cards should turn off.

He'll be tough to put on a $80 million team. Making the $ work.

If he goes down and he will, well you learned a valuable lesson. See above for Caveat Emptor... NOBODY will force you to take him.

It's almost like these guys should come with an *. And the * should read, "Use @ your own risk"

I can't agree more with Visick. Everyone worries if Lawrie and his 150ABs gets a card. He will be price accordingly and be an injury risk. Why not Alonso? You want REALISM then as Visick said those limited PAs and IPs get turned off when they have reached their limits. As I said earlier. PLAY THEM ALL.

For draft leagues I can see an argument to include everyone, for keeper leagues it's different as most of them are unlimited cap leagues. It would give a huge unfair advantage to guys who drafted Montero or Alonso as prospects and then they get the benefit of an 8 or 9M card after a handful of PAs, that kind of stuff can easily hand someone a title in those leagues. It's not about reality or fantasy to me in that sense, it's about is it fair to have leagues be won & lost on "lotto ticket" type cards vs. actual skill.

This is one reason why Bernie has decided on leashed vs. unleashed.

Couldn't agree more with the keeper vs draft opinion. Seen it happen to me personally 2 years ago in a keeper league where I lost the finals in both seasons to someone using 3 "never was, never will be" players who happened to have had a 1 season killer card based on 150 ab's or less. Keeper leagues need to be about quality of long term foresight and not about a lucky one year roll of the dice from some career minor leaguer to happened to have had every lucky bounce in his 100 or so at bats upon callup.

Yeah but guys, you know as well as I know...

They can also get hurt and go down for 15 games and HURT your chances of a title.

Really immaterial for keeper leagues. The point for keepers is that the fluke cards have no downside. You are just getting bonus value that you should have had no expectation of getting. In a draft/cap league there is a trade-off about the cost of the player vs. the risk of a 15 gamer, but in unlimited/keeper leagues there is no such trade-off.

I don't much care for fluke cards even in a regular league. I'd like to offer a compelling argument, but really it's just personal preference.
