The way I interpret the rules.
We can ONLY use guys with cards from 77-89 right?

Henderson and Sandberg have cards from 1990. All others are ok.

Am I wrong here?

Only use cards from 1977-1989. Sandberg has a 1984 card and Henderson has 1982, 1983 and 1985. They fit the parameters. Also why eliminate a player b/c he also has cards from years outside those parameters? You then shrink the player pool if you do. As far as I see it only their cards that fall within those years can be used, the other cards can not. That how I read it.

That's the way I'm reading the rules and based upon the draft, it seems that everyone else is reading the rules the same way.

As visick has pointed out, there are more than a few good players who have cards both inside and outside the year range of 1977-1989.

Take Cal Ripken, for example. He has cards from 1983, 1991 and 1999. Only his card from 1983 is eligible for this league. The 1983 card is not rendered ineligible merely because of the 1991 and 1999 cards. To do so would certainly be a strained interpretation of the rules. However, as previously stated, Ripken's 1991 and 1999 cards cannot be used in this league.

You must use CARDS with years 77-89. This means you could, say, use Sandberg's 84, but not his 1990. Same with Gwynn. I can use 87 or 84, but not his 90s cards. You're drafting the cards, in essence, not the players. So I can't use cards outside the range.

Man, this will be one tough league. Each pick sees another guy on my list going off the board.

Many years ago, I played in 8 team face to face leagues draft leagues using the 1971 to 1984 seasons, before the advent of the super advanced rules, and the talent level for this league is similar.

I saw Moneyball last night (for the unbelievable price of $2). Great movie. Even my wife liked it and she's NOT a sports fan. I highly recommend it. Based on the thin talent level here, it seems as though we'll all have to be building our teams from less than perfect parts, sort of like what Billy Beane claims to have done in Oakland in Moneyball.
