Ironman catchers in live draft leagues -- BAD NEWS!

[quote:27fbc9574d]I would not want to join a live draft league and abide by all the etiquette of not swapping hurt player cards for another card of the same player only to have my opponent do this[/quote:27fbc9574d]

What?

There is no such etiquette in these leagues.. but if there was in a particular league were it was agreed no swapping of injured players, then yes of course everyone should abide by it.

Actually it has been requested that this not be done in the live draft league that is trying to fill for tonight. So it is an issue,.....at least to some....

By the way, excuse my ignorance but what does "LMAO" mean?

Then they should all follow the stated rules for that league..and my guess is they will....See I'd call it an option not so much an issue.

Rules are 'meant' to be Black and White if at all possible- but often times fall short
Don't speed
Dont Steal
Dont Covet Julie Newmar
Let the Salt-man win

Practices are meant to be discussed
How much do I charge someone
How long do I have to let my wife's brother stay
At what point is it ripping someones ideas off
Whats an appropriate t-shirt slogan
Let the Salt-Man win

When you violate column A there is usually a penalty involved; sometimes you 'get away with it'

When you violate column B there is only public/private opinion

PS: LOVE it. Darker than Black- I think thats somewhere in Space?
Now there is a GREAT song/book title!!!! Awesome, Im ripping that off, oh wait...

Saltman, thanks for the civics lesson, but in this case the "rules," and by that I mean Bernie's code, was decided by a small group of people in secret. The rest of us are left to discuss the matter after the fact.
If Bernie could stop Pedro from starting every series, he could also carry injuries over for each of a players cards. I really can't see a distinction in these two cases.

DJ-

Im actually agreeing with you on that point.

There is no reason why it can't be re-opened for discussion.
But- I do want to draw a sharp distinction between all of us discussing what we think we WANT a rule or option to be and one that actually exists.

and PS- The only thing I know about civics are that they sometimes have issues with the transmission.

What if once a[b:e5e041630b] multi-player card[/b:e5e041630b] is selected the rest go [b:e5e041630b]bye bye[/b:e5e041630b]...there can be a grace period from [b:e5e041630b]waivers until opening day[/b:e5e041630b]...once the bell sounds whoever you have is who you will have to live with...The multi-card players who [b:e5e041630b]were not[/b:e5e041630b] selected would stay until one of their[b:e5e041630b] cards are taken [/b:e5e041630b]and then...bye bye...just a thought...so choose wisely

Vin, we can have that now whenever we want. Why make it either or when it can always be a choice

[quote:b07b9f5637="bkeat23"]Salt,

I'm in my first live league, and am trying to put together a second, so I'm seeing this for the first time. Even though it seems it's an acceptable practice to swap out injured players cards among the managers that play a lot of live leagues, it's still new tactics to the newbies.

Is it also acceptable to swap out players off the wire based on matchups? Not a one year of Hornsby for the other, but for example, picking up hard lefties when headed into a series against a LH heavy team? Please don't take this as a snarky question, I'd really like some opinions on this.

I'm not talking about dropping players that aren't performing, more like picking up a guy and dropping him 2 days later, and then doing it again.

It is certainly within the rules, I'm not debating that at all.

Do the live draft league vets notice that there isn't too much new blood in
the live drafts? If so, I submit these legal and accepted practices might be keeping the new guys from too many live draft leagues. I may have already put together my last live draft team.

Yeah, I know some of you are thinking "Good Riddance"[/quote:b07b9f5637]

Hey, if some of the so called vets say "good riddance", fine.

If they are happy to continue what amounts to a circle jerk amongst themselves, I think that is incredibly shortsighted.
