Roster Construct Ideas

Postby Casey89 » Tue Jan 03, 2012 4:37 pm

This is the core group of batters I'd like to use:

Bassler 3.15 +6 +5
Kling 1.25 +11 +11
Clark 8.01 +13 +12
Fox 6.68 +12 +11
Gardner 3.94 +10 +9 psbl conflict with other team, could take Baker instead
Reese 3.10 +11 +11
Irvin 5.35 +10 +11
Cruz 1.00 +17 +15
Snider 9.66 +11 +11
Waner 9.85 +10 +9

That's 51.99 for 10 hitters, probably another 2.50 to 3.00 for backups.

I'd have to find a different pitching staff in a non-DH league. How do I find balk and wild pitch ratings? Click on each card?

I edited some of my posts above. What do you think.

Regarding Balks, Clutch, pitcher fielding etc....
The best way for me to look at these is to use the DiamondDope Pool function, pick any park, then copy and paste the results to a spreadsheet. Then you can sort by any category (including balks, WP....)

(Thanks to Adrian for this tool :D )

Central #1
Here are the hitters I'd like to use. Possible conflicts workable:
Josh Gibson 7L
Cash 5R
Whitaker 84 4R
Brett 82 4R
Cronin 30 4L
Lynn 79 6R
Henderson 85 5L
Jackson 11 6R (would prefer not to, but could switch to Maris or Walker at 5R here)
JAlou7L
Easler 5R
Myatt 4R

Pitchers are still a work in progress
But looking at
Starters:
Caldwell 7L
SJ Williams 5R
Wood 11 7R
Wickersham 4R
Farmer 9R
Relievers:
McClure 4L
Clear 7R
Hassler 8L (Replacing Sambito to reduce conflicts)
Shirley 8L
Bair 9R

With ~$2.27 to fill four bench spots.

Ideally, play in Vets 75, but willing to work wherever as long as it's balanced L/R.

Assuming these players are unbalanced enough. I could swap the 4's for 5+ if that'd work better.

Is there any use for a balanced, neutral team? Sort of a control? I guess there wouldn't be anywhere to put it, 'cause that would mean one of the other teams would get bumped.

If you need that, I've got one ready.

WN - #3 and #4 in the west are neutral teams except for pitcher hitting. Wanna take a stab at that with a neutral park?

[quote:61563b8d32="PotKettleBlack"]Yeah, I'm in. This will be fun (and I will lose 95+ games).

Question on Central Teams.
Can you use a platoon. Say you're looking at a team with good same handed hitting...
Phil Bradley/Marshall Willard platoon acceptable? Or is that defeating the purpose.[/quote:61563b8d32]

I don't think that would fit. You'd have to pair Bradley with a RH hitter that hits LHP, and Marshall with a RH hitter that favors RHP.

If anyone wants to take, tweak or retool east team #1, I will gladly take and refine any of the other east teams, a central team or the west #3 team. 8-) (hackra) 8-) [color=blue:13db56032f]I would kind of like to take on the challenge/assertion nexrad made that my Great hitting/no pitching team could not play with the rest of this league[/color:13db56032f]
