Quiz: Where in the following statement is anything said

about second basemen with 1 defensive ratings and 50+ chances to get on base?

[quote:18ea8d0818]Problem for me with Morgan is that I don't find shelling out big bucks at lower caps for leadoff hitters is a great strategy; not when I can get 1's defensively for under 3M with 50 OB chances. [/quote:18ea8d0818]

Moral 1: Never let facts get in the way of an agenda.

Moral 2: Agendas may impact reading comprehension negatively. Or is it that people who struggle to comprehend simple statements are more likely to have agendas?

BTW: I had in mind Charlie Jamieson.

Bobby Grich was underrated during the swing first and ask questions later 70s. I believe Bill James said his 1974 season (i think 74) was mvp worthy. He was moneyball before it was fashionable or appreciated.

It's rather pointless to argue with Petro about the cards - he probably knows them as well as anybody. Charlie Jamieson is indeed the only player with a 1 defensive rating (1(0)e9 in lf) and 50+ OB chances against RHP in a zero park.

There are several 2's -
Davy Jones 09 lf-2(+1)e8
Eddie Stanky 45 2b-2e24 and 700+ PA
Jose Oquendo 87 ss-2e31 and rated nearly everywhere
Phil Bradley 84, a 2(+)e4 all around the OF

All these guys except Stanky are 15-game injury risks. I doubt that anyone who uses them really cares about that.

So here's the Joe Morgan team. 130m cap w/ DH. It's a theme league where each manager is assigned a stadium prior to the draft. I'm in Rickwood, in a division with Exhibition, US Cellular, and Ruppert.
