I just dont understand why I never get a good season out of Seaver. He was one of the best ever and when ever I draft him he pitches like Nelson Figeroa. Forget about high cap leagues, I have tried him 3 times in 200 mil leagues and he has 60 loses, most recently he gave up 78 home runs. I keep on thinking this is a fluke and keep finding out that its not. Another observation is that those pitchers from 1968-1971 all under perform. No more picking with my heart.

Seaver is a lot like Feller to me; great reputation as one of the greatest pitchers ever, but that usually doesnt translate to Strat very well

Strat screwed him with ballpark effects on the '71 season. Check it out on baseball reference, particularly home vs away vs righthanded hitters.

I agree the 200 mil cap leagues destroy pitchers, but Seaver gets hammred like a 4 million back of the rotation pitcher in an 80m league. Ive had much better suscess with the likes of Sam Leaver, Nip Winters and George Mullen for a lot less money.

There are a lot of great players in real life whose cards just s*ck when you use them in SOM.

its the homeruns. mcclain was lights out in 68 but if he had a big lead he give up an occassional hr. threw one down the middle to mantle on purpose. let him know it was coming.

I think Petrosian posted this recently, but there are better Seaver years out there to be had. Unfortunately they just aren't in the ATG6 set. Hopefully that will change soon as he should be much better.

This +1. With the preponderance of teams being built around power (and why not?), it's rougher for Seaver. That said, I would think you could stick him in Petco and he'd thrive. Well, most pitchers would, honestly, but you get the idea.
