Pitching controlling league

In this league the top 4 teams in wins also happen to be the top 4 in ERA.

Remember when it seemed the way to win was put a slugging team in Fenway and outscore everyone? Funny how the pendulum seems to swing in strat. Same game, same player pool, but how people win seems to change as the months go by.

I think this is one reason I do not do as well now as when I first started. Not playing as often as some I tend to be a little behind on the trends and structure teams to compete against what was in fashion a couple months ago. And people like nevdully who launch a team a day have a great feel for the pulse of the community and direction things are going.

I always like been the contrarian. This is a recent team that beat one of Nev's 97 win pitching teams (with 4 20 game winners, btw).

I wouldn't pronounce the death of the slugging teams quite yet.

I love these discussions of slugging teams versus pitching teams. I do both (and I think I do both fairly well). I stink if I go to Ebbets, though.
I have won rings in the following stadiums:

Busch 87
Baker Bowl x3
Forbes x4
Briggs
Polo 11
West Side

As you can see, I stick to what I know pretty much. If I want to build a playoff team I think it is MUCH easier to do so in a pitcher's park. A slugging team is more fun for me to build but I always worry about the 1st round of the playoffs. I just had a solid Polo team get beat by Munich in Game 5 of the Semi's. He had Brown going and I had Louis Drucke. That is what scares me when I build a slugging team. If I can get to the Finals with my sluggers, then I usually win the title. The same holds true for pitching teams. I am 11-5 in the Finals with 3 of the losses coming in Game 7's.
The solid managers who build pitching teams usually build very good pitching teams and they are hard to beat.
