Yeah, I dunno what to tell you guys about Max Carey's injury. According to Strat-O-Matic, the card says "Moops".

Wow, synchronicity again. On Monday I was looking at Ventura's 1999 card. And again, presto it appears.

Maloney is featured prominently in Jim Brosnan's book, "Pennant Race,"We detailing the 1961 Reds. Maloney and Jim O'Toole we're rookies, and both pitched well. Maloney was also quite a good hitter, which apparently escaped the notice of at least one enemy scout.

Maloney was pitching against the Giants, and came to bat in the later stages of the game with runners on base. McCovey began creeping in, expecting a bunt, and Maloney ripped a line drive down the 1st base line that nearly decapitated Willie. I don't think the Giants ever played corners in against Maloney again.

my 'Meh?' was in response to the question on 'word' for the drop date...
Id hate for it to be tooooo definitve :wink:
