ATG is more competitive than MLB

I believe MLB is going to strat next season. The players will roll dice, look up the results and then act out the play.

:)
PKB--only exception I will take is with the assumption that WAR is a bonafide stat a priori. There is no verificational basis for the statistic.

It doesn't take away from your argument, but just a point of order to say ARod was "only 11 wins above replacement" as if it's objective fact.

I will say though that the teams mostly benefiting from rev sharing and the $ amount of it doesn't seem to line up with making an effectual impact, but it's possible.

I did a little more parsing...

Again, this is the percentage of teams within .4444 (4-5) and .5556 (5-4).
[code:1:c348963151] pct teams
AL&NL 1876-1920 36.1% 548
MLB 1921-1946 40.6% 416
AL&NL 1876-2010 48.3% 2484
MLB 1947-1972 49.0% 478
MLB 1995-2011 55.6% 504
MLB 1973-1994 58.8% 568
ATG 24 Team LG 71.7% 936[/code:1:c348963151]

Buried in this is something I always wanted to know.

[quote:ce470c8e63="agabriel"]
pct teams
AL&NL 1876-2010 48.3% 2484
[/quote:ce470c8e63]

[quote:ce470c8e63]Member Teams
B.o.b.b.y... 1577
nevdully's 1541
Frank Bailey 1345
Petrosian 1309 [/quote:ce470c8e63]

So Nev, the most teams of any active manager, would need to
manage 943 more online strat teams to have effectively simulated
as many teams as MLB has run out onto the field. Plus another
32 for every year after 2010.

Or another way to look at it, any combo of 2 of the top 4 most frequent
managers have effectively simulated more teams (together) than
MLB has actually played (in online strat).

no, the 2484 number is the number of teams between .444 and .555 winning percentage (I think, adrian would have to confirm/rebut), and not the total # of teams which would be over twice as many.

Man Paul, you made me look it up, and I wanted to be lazy about
this one. But there have been just over 200,000 games played
since 1876.* Two teams per game, that works out to about 2500
seasons (not getting to careful about 154 or 162 games/season).

*according to ... wait, the logo is blaced out due to SOPA protest,
... okay its according to Baseball reference.

So the numbers in the post were correct.

got it. just seemed like adrian was saying 48% or 2484 teams had been between the 44% and 55% ranges...not 48% out of 2484 teams, but hey I didn't look it up so I believe ya.

2484 was the total through 2010, AL & NL only.
