PKB--only exception I will take is with the assumption that WAR is a bonafide stat a priori. There is no verificational basis for the statistic.

It doesn't take away from your argument, but just a point of order to say ARod was "only 11 wins above replacement" as if it's objective fact.

I will say though that the teams mostly benefiting from rev sharing and the $ amount of it doesn't seem to line up with making an effectual impact, but it's possible.

no, the 2484 number is the number of teams between .444 and .555 winning percentage (I think, adrian would have to confirm/rebut), and not the total # of teams which would be over twice as many.

Man Paul, you made me look it up, and I wanted to be lazy about
this one. But there have been just over 200,000 games played
since 1876.* Two teams per game, that works out to about 2500
seasons (not getting to careful about 154 or 162 games/season).

So the numbers in the post were correct.

got it. just seemed like adrian was saying 48% or 2484 teams had been between the 44% and 55% ranges...not 48% out of 2484 teams, but hey I didn't look it up so I believe ya.

2484 was the total through 2010, AL & NL only.
