I'm Addicted

I spent less than one day trying to withdraw from Strat-o-matic baseball. I am fairly upset about something that involves the game company itself but am working past my displeasure to maintain my devoted interest in the best game in the world that recreates the best game in the world. I've played this game for over 30 years and have been a big fan of baseball for about 47 years. I have about 60 seasons on my computer game and am currently trying to complete 25 seasons played out game for game. There is a beauty in the game of baseball and its history that to me is unmatched in the context of sports. Thanks for allowing me to share this, enabling my vent to become an ode to a grand sport.

Just curious. What is you'd beef with Strat-O-Matic? I am upset that I have to buy the new game ( or upgrade) to buy the 1958 roster, the all-time roster (every player) or the Negro league roster if I am not mistaken. Of course I am talking about the computer game but I don't want have to spend 50+ bucks for a new game. I don't have a problem paying for seasons that I want but I don't want to buy a new game every year. By the way I agree with you about baseball in general.

Richman's customer service makes even TSN's customer service look good.

Funny you mention the 1958 season...almost the last straw in my remaining a customer of Strat-o-matic. Strat just announced they are releasing the Caddy version of 1958. I have the generic(not sure thats the right word) computerized 1958 season which means at some point my version will be rendered useless forcing me to have to buy the 1958 caddy season. I dealt with this issue before in dealing with my 1924 season which at one time was also a generic season then upgraded to caddy status. I bought a new laptop a few years ago and had attempted to transfer the generic 1924 season from the old to the new laptop. I was unable to make the transfer, according to the game company it was because of the season upgrade and that i would now have to purchase the caddy version if i wanted the 1924 season on my new laptop. I have twenty such generic computer seasons and now anticipate over time they will all be rendered useless at some point in time. Needless to say i will not be purchasing anymore non caddy seasons. When i asked the Strat people about my 1924 season and being left with only option of replacing generic with caddy version they pretty much told me in paraphrase, thats the way it goes in these days of modern technology. I would think they could have at least offered me the caddy 1924 season at half price since i had already purchased the generic season previously. I have yet to replace my 1924 season even though I've purchased many other seasons since this issue came up.
