Invitational league: Weinberg vs Petrosian

Postby cristano1 » Mon Jan 23, 2012 5:27 pm

I am not using DD for Murray, since none exist. I am just telling you who Murray is most like, according to my numbers.

Your arguments on the Kaiser and Miljus support my argument not yours. Kaiser is comparatively priced when he is used at 154ip. Miljus is comparatively priced when used at 153 ip.

Now, if Miljus is used for 310 ip, then that is where the gaming of the system occurs.

[quote:7c84c96e4b="weinberg"]i say we punt on the league. teamsters hasnt been able to draft for whatever reason. we lose you on wednesday. i think the entire leagues a sham to begin with, because of the super reliever issue.[/quote:7c84c96e4b]

You know its a shame-
When I agreed to come on board I was looking forward to seeing what your rivalry was all about; and maybe even learning a thing or two, since I expected it to be a closely watched league, and Ive never played with you, so had no idea what to expect- and watching the draft live- is so much fun.

Instead, we are abandoning, because someone drafts an R4 reliever?

Are you going to lodge a protest in any league someone goes over a specified innings count with a reliever?

well, Id like to suggest to anyone interested we do a DDope Cap Draft at some point...and please feel free to use any players according to the actual rules.

'According to my numbers'?

According to my colon- Squash, Cucumbers an lettuce are the same thing.
That doesnt make them so.

Very disappointed...

Now, someone please put together a list of people who want to draft based on some common thread of reality...

Weinberg, I'll be the first one to admit it: I think (know) you're a really good player. You are. But if you were to "punt on this league" because of one pick your arch-nemesis made you truly are crazy. Who would win this league if it were to dissolve thanks to YOUR whining? I'm pretty sure Petro.

Everything both valid and invalid he has said about you would be justified. If anything, I'm a little happy Petro took a RELIEF PITCHER in the first round.

If this was such a huge concern/doomsday scenario for you why not say something at the beginning of the league rather than saw you'll "maul" the competition no matter who or what it be?

As I said earlier, getting 300+ innings out of a reliever is crazy and more importantly stupid.

I'm with you, it's REALLY unrealistic. That doesn't mean it's greatest strategy in this history of strat. If anything I think it hurts teams. Surely it doesn't make team into automatic division winners expecially in division with you does it?

To me, Bonds hitting 104 homeruns is more immoral than using a super-reliever. Notice how I didn't say cheating because it's not. Barry's card is suposed to hit ALOT of homeruns. Murray's card is supposed to pitch more innings because it's a R4.

I agree that when the card gets 300+ innings it's underpriced (Petro won't get 300 innings, he's not that stupid) but not by 5 or 6 million bucks. If Murray were let's say 10 million bucks he'd be awful. Teams couldn't spend as much on their entire staffs so the whole staff would be WAY worse than it would be with Mathewson or whoever. It's about the staff's ERA, not the individuals.

Come on Weinberg, stick around. If you quit now you'll look (and be) the biggest random expletive ever. But more importantly a chicken.

Oh and when you say "I say we punt on the league" know that you'll be the only one punting.

If you quit: Weinberg < Petrosian

There is also a $$$ advantage to having a bullpen under 4 mill in a 100 mill league and then setting it up so that they don't pitch and you end up with a bunch of complete games and a bullpen that throws very few innings.

Typical deal here though is that too many people think that whatever they do is sound strategy and what everyone else does is gaming the game.

There are rules. Follow the rules. The end.

Looks like Lt Weinberg is taking his ball and going home.

Can't say I'm surprised.

I just want to play. I couldnt care less if it's weinberg and Petrosian or Anthony Weiner and Bobby Fischer.

I do hope that teamsters situation with his son and the wreck is ok.

Whoever plays, lets get it moving. 8-)

Yep, that quote is right up there with the immortal line from the Grindi - PBTR thread.

"If I want to listen to an a**hole, I'll just go over there and fart!"

Angelo did PM me. He's out for this one because of the accident.

Rburgh replaces him.

Now we need two more guys to replace Whineburg and his draft-a-team- post-waivers brother.

We'd have to start over, don't think anyone would want Stanky as a first pick.

I'd like to see Nev play so why not sign up for an invitational autodraft?
