Reliever Scheduled to start?

Postby supertyphoon » Tue Jan 24, 2012 2:41 pm

Sorry PKB, but that's wrong. In this situation, Slim Jones is down for 10 games. HAL inserts Murray as the scheduled starter in the rotation in place of Jones. Murray will be the starting pitcher for games INJ+5 and INJ+10 (there's nothing you can do about it except pick up a cheap SP for two starts), and Murray is unavailable to relieve again until at least game INJ+14 or (more likely) INJ+15. The only exception to that would be a blowout or very long extra-inning game that uses up the entire bullpen.

Murray is a R4. Adams is a S8/R5. That's the primary reason it CAN happen to Adams, but it WON'T happen with Murray.

If I remember and RP forced to start get a +2 or +3 (can't remember) to the relief rating as far as their endurance goes, i.e. an R3 becomes either an S5 or S6.

Of course my memory is bad these days....

I'm really offended by all this game mechanics talk. It seems every time someone mentions HAL cuss words begin being inferred. Maybe not typed, but I can feel it in the way the words are organized. Especially PKB.

Please take it to the bullpen.

Oh boy--that last comment's gonna drive this thread through the viral plaid stage and on into the bullpen!!!

just kidding. nexrad's rundown on Murray starting twice is correct. That was my 96 year old grandmother in the last post. she's from Tunisia and feeling rather uprising-ish. May set herself alight.

Because Murray is R4 and not Sx(no star) he will not be able to relief in game Inj+6 and Inj+11?

Here is the team where I used Babe as Ace + 1/5th of a closer.
Babe started Game 1, 6, 11, and every other start. 33 starts.
49 appearances. 16 relief appearances (8 saves - 1 blown). I know he entered each relief appearance at F0 and it was the game immediately after his start.

I am under the impression that the governing issue is a future scheduled start. At least that was the impression I was under when I came up with the idea of using Babe that way (and Reulbach, though that worked considerably less well).

If it's a Sx(no star) issue, then yeah, no relief use for Murray until at least Inj+12.

Murray pitched well.

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/stratomatic/league/boxscore.html?group_id=155752&g_id=285

Crapped out in the 6th, but finished it and turned it over to Bedrosian who finished it.

[code:1:0012c6cbc0]Confluence IP H R ER BB SO HR PC ERA
D.Murray WIN(7-3) 6 6 2 1 0 0 1 113 3.26[/code:1:0012c6cbc0]

This was the third game of the night. We will see if he relieves in game 1 tomorrow. We'll see if he needs to.

Murray won't pitch again until game 53. No matter what you try do, HAL will not allow him pitch again until his next scheduled start, and he won't pitch again after that start until at least game 57 or (more likely) game 58.

You can bet the bank on that. 8-)

I looked at your schedule, and that's exactly what happened. HAL refused to pitch Murray until at least 4 games rest after his last start, even with blowout losses in games 54 and 55.

Murray pitched very well in his two starts, so no harm done.
