Glad to be of assistance with your drafts. You could look at it as I just outdrafted you, rather than HAL awarded me the guys you wanted. Half full, half empty I suppose. But Scorehouse, you should know that I never thought of you as just any moron.

By the way, the manager of the second team, PAYBACK, was created with just you in mind. And that's why I jumped into the same division you were in. Enjoy your team. So far I am. :P

[quote:2cff763c0d="djmacb"]I am really enjoying this witty repartee

Petrosian's post reminds me of a scene from my favorite show, Big Bang Theory: "Dr. Cooper, Dr. Hofstadter, Dr. Koothrappali, and (voice dripping with scorn) MISTER Wolowitz"

To the matter at hand, I have a question. Let's say I draft myself an outfield of Mays, Wilson, and Aaron and stick them in Hilltop. What's to stop HAL from moving Mays into left and using Wilson in center?[/quote:2cff763c0d]

I would assume you would fill in a partial lineup with Mays in Center leaving only LF open. HAL would have to choose from the substitutes left and should defer to Wilson, but it is not for sure as HAL can be unpredictible and apparently will bat him 9th cutting about 1/8 of his total at bats away from his annual total, further confirming to me this is a silly though legal strategy.

By the way the solution, if wanted is remarkably easy, just program that to set the lineups you must enter a valid entry into all of the fields or else non would be set.

[quote:82397635b2="Petrosian"]Now my doctoral program, back in the mid-90's, accepted less than 3% of the applicants. And without at least a 3.7 G.P.A., GRE"s of around 1400, and some solid undergraduate research, you didn't stand a prayer of admission.[/quote:82397635b2]

Petrosian: I'm [b:82397635b2]VERY IMPRESSED[/b:82397635b2] with your school! That explains [b:82397635b2]A LOT![/b:82397635b2].

How in the world did you ever manage to get in?

Gee, I didn't know correspondence schools awarded PhDs back in the '90s. I sure hope that alleged sheepskin comes in handy when trying to figure out the correct change for the fares you pick up in that taxi.

Some of the smartest people I have ever known didn't have much formal education. Others who have had the opportunity to go to school sometimes look down on and lord it over people with less of an education and sometimes are lacking in even the most rudimentary of social skills. Those more insecure will proudly flaunt their academic achievements so that they will be perceived as more intelligent.

Most of us know people like that, don't we?

Now it seems as though we must have a pedigree to validate our posts in this forum. Last time I checked, pedigrees were for dogs.

Some people create drama and then not so innocently wonder aloud what they have done to make them lightning rods for controversy. Others don't care much about what you write about them as long as you spell their name right.

Know anybody like that?

Not that I feel any particular need to justify my earlier post, but I don't know anyone who appreciates having their integrity not so subtly questioned or getting threatened by someone who perceives them to be an easy target, especially in front of one's peers. With the door having been opened on character issues, I responded in kind. Most of you realize that I tried to inject a little humor in my response by making a "pointed joke" to send the message that I don't respond well to what I perceive to be questions about my integrity or intimidation attempts. My response had nothing to do with someone expressing a differing opinion than mine (as some of you have posted) and everything to do with objecting to the tone of the post I addressed.

However, to those of you who have implied that I used a nuclear bomb to kill a gnat, the point is well taken. I apologize to those of you who were offended by me stooping to the level of my accuser in my response.

Where I come from, there is little sympathy for a bully who gets kicked in the teeth by his target, as it is generally felt that he brought it upon himself and deserves whatever he gets.

[quote:82397635b2="Petrosian"]Having reviewed all the posts and read the relevant rules...... [/quote:82397635b2]

Gee, you'd think a person who claims to have all those letters after his name would know well enough to have done that before he spouted off with his "deliberately heavy handed" post instead of doing so 4 days later. I sure hope his parents didn't spend their money paying for that correspondence degree at that fabulous institution of higher learning.

But we all know people who open their mouth without thinking first.

Regardless, although it is pretty clear that his mind was made up before he read the rules and considered the other posts, he does appear to have put a lot more thought, reason and even a little humor into that post than the post of which I complained and I daresay that if he had written the latter post in the first place that there would not be anywhere near the acrimony prevalent in this thread. It is almost as if his posts were written by two different people. Which leads me to wonder:

Is there a Good Petrosian and a Bad Petrosian?

I can't wait to hear from Dr. Sybil to get the answer! - Bernie W

Alvie the Troll's (in) famous Hack Wilson thread cited today

Postby The Last Druid » Mon Jan 23, 2012 7:02 pm

[quote:f4f7fee2d3]One particular interaction with Petro sheds a lot of light on his pathology however.

In the (in) famous "Can Hack Wilson play LF" thread, Petro derided my opinion as worthless bc he believed me to be a chiropractor, and hence I suppose not worthy of conversing with someone of his intellectual and educational level.

He proceeded to essentially post his CV on the thread and went on and on about how this presumably made his opinions on the matter equivalent to the Pope when speaking infallibly.

That really told me all I need to know.
[/quote:f4f7fee2d3]

Thus spake the Troll with the agenda. Read this thread to see the agenda unfold.

Specifically, read alvarndc's posts (ad homenim attacks playing off B.D. Ward's initial ad homenim) throughout this thread. Read my responses. See if that corresponds to what he is selling in his resurrection of the thread today. I won't even go into the several subsequent bogus solicitous posts suggesting I "get help" which I ignored. But enough is enough.

I do regret defaming chiropractic by mistakenly assuming this drooling troll was one.

This is also tangentially relevant (less tangential than most of the troll's postings) as it does involve an actual gaming the game scenario in light of Weinberg's meltdown yesterday.

But the Troll is just another whiny little beeatch with a remarkably self-serving memory, albeit one who can barely construct a draft card. Whineberg, for all his issues, can at least fill out a draft card.

Any CF should be able to play LF or RF, and as a matter of fact with the actual real Strat-O-Matic CD-ROM you can put any CF in LF or RF with the same range rating, e-rating and arm strength. You would not be allowed to do this if it were not programed into the rules, period! Not only do the real actual Strat-O-Matic rules support this, but real life supports this as well. It is silly to think Hack Wilson or any CF er could not play LF or RF. And I am sure at some point in his career he did play LF or RF. It is just that he did not play CF that year, that does not mean his manager could not have put him in LF without hurting his team.[/size:158b1b8c51]We are not doing "as played" replays here, we are doing what if scenarios.[/size:158b1b8c51]However, the argument could be made that he was not priced as a guy who can play all three outfield positions. But as far as the real SOM rules go, you should be allowed to do it.
