Draft by Position $140m league, full and loaded. Great job!

I'll re-pick so there isn't any question.

I don't feel it violates anything. The rules (which as I said I lifted from Novie's theme from over a year ago), as written, seem to clearly address this, with the Musial and Stargell examples. If Emart wants to take the cap hit in order to upgrade to the better Brett, once the season starts, that's kosher, and up to him.

It doesn't matter to me which Brett season Emart uses.

I had intended to take the cap hit on Brett, which is what I clarified with Mark. As I understood it though, the 6.15 Brett could start at 3B, since that position is also on that card.

It does matter to me which Brett he uses. I would question the intent of the rule. Is switching out after the first series really what the rule was about? If so fine, but it would seem the point was to prevent exactly this, Yount in CF or Musial in RF would be good examples.

Whatever the group decides is fine by me.

I just wanted to make sure you were aware of the cap hit. That is totally fine with me if you draft him and put him at third and switch his card when the season starts.

Thats what I read too -- if emart wants to take a cap hit after the
season starts, he can upgrade.

Any chance we can post the SP round as well -- only a few SP
are also hitters (Rogan, ... :D :D )

Musial can play lf,cf,rf, and 1b on his best card so I see no issue using that for any of those positions. I certainly don't plan on playing pujols at 2b, but I am going to use his card that he is carded to play 2b. I thought that is a little added strategy to this draft.

Yes, you could start the 6.15 Brett at 3b, obviously. He qualifies as your LF pick. And the rules discuss the potential for dropping the players for other cards, once the season has started, so yeah, it's a legit strategy, if that's what you want to do. I have played in Position Draft leagues where there is a specific rule stating you must keep that player for the entire season, unless traded for another, but this league has no such stipulation.

FYI - I started a separate thread to keep track of the players that have been drafted. You can help out by plugging the player you take (by principal position, alphabetical) in to the list. As the draft progresses, refer to the list to help you not duplicate a previous pick.

Rd 4: (SS):
7. Warrenbob - A. Vaughan
8. Roosky - B. Larkin (Public Proxy)
9. Sschu - Honus Wagner
10. Mrharryc - Nomar Garciaparra
11. RFV - L. Boudreau
12. L&R - W. Wells
1. Jamesgang - C. Jones
2. Emart - A. Rodriguez
3. Modmark - R. Yount
4. MightyMoose - E. Banks
[b:54705c607d]5. JCHansen -[/b:54705c607d]
6. Ratioman -

Rd 5: (LF): (Can select if not qualified at SS, or when RD 4 is over)
1. Jamesgang - Bry. Bonds
2. Emart - G. Brett
3. Modmark -
4. MightyMoose -
5. JCHansen -
6. Ratioman -
7. Warrenbob -
8. Roosky -
9. Sschu -
10. Mrharryc -
11. RFV -
12. L&R -

!!!New Cards available for drafting that we know of. Prices unknown; draft at your own risk!

M. Carey, OF (Mrharryc takes)
B. Dickey, C
N. Garciaparra, SS (mrharry takes)
D. Kingman, LF
J. Mayberry, 1b
B. Myer, 2b
R. Ventura, 3B/1B
J. Brewer, RP
R. Jones, SP
J. Maloney, SP
J. Rijo, SP
J. Smoltz, SP
F. Valenzuela, SP
D. White, SP

* Reminder Note for me*
(round 8: SP/RP) RFV swapped his 8th spot for Ratioman's 1st spot (Walter Johnson). Then Ratioman trades that 8th spot to Warrenbob for his 12th spot.
(round 11: 1B) RFV swaps his 4th spot for Ratioman's 9th spot.
(round 12: Any H) Ratioman swaps his 3rd spot for Warrenbob's 2nd spot.
