Weinberg/Petrosian topics moved

Threads moved
"Invitation League: Weinberg vs. Petrosian" -> Individual League Chat Forum
"Petrosian - Weinberg rivalry" -> The Bullpen
"Weinberg (aka Minuteman) watch" -> The Bullpen

Once again, the relocation of these threads is not censorship; you are free to continue the conversation in them.

Once again, I am getting complaints from community members who are letting me know that all the vitriol in this Petrosian/Weinberg "rivalry" is poisoning the forums for them. I'd rather you didn't continue to fuel this spite-filled argument, but if you need to, please do so away from this main forum.

To those of you who would say, "If they don't like it, they don't have to click on it": while technically true, it's largely a matter of principle. They don't like just knowing in theory that it's going on, and don't want to be constantly reminded of it while browsing other topics in the forum. I can't say I blame them.

To those of you who would say, "At least it's interesting": I definitely acknowledge that it's brought out some passion, and there's a lot of good in that. But ultimately it's not worth the cost.

If you're looking for things to talk about, I'l be posting some positive things in the coming weeks.

To those of you who would say, "There's some valid gameplay debate in there": yes there is. And I'd be fine with having those debates if they didn't start out with, and wouldn't be closely linked to, the nastiness.

I'm glad that it looks like the "rivalry" has stoked the fire of a new competitive league that some are looking forward to. That's great. Go have fun, settle it on the field, and chatter away in the Individual League Chat forum, to where I've moved the main league thread.

Please, I repeat (and I wish I didn't have to):

[b:f31e16fdd4]Seriously guys, play nice, and let's do our best to elevate the mood and level of civility around here.[/b:f31e16fdd4]

Thanks.

Got a match?

All kidding aside Bernie,
I dont have an issue with your decision to move the threads to another location.
I think a couple of the issues are solved with the decision of everyone to continue rather than scrap the league-
personally love the passion of some of the folks here...just dont look back or you might turn into a pillar of salty

+1

Also, it's going to make it that much harder for people to find that picture of Billy Zane. Especially without a search function.

Hey Nev. We should refrain from posting on the main boards for the next six months. We can make many people here happy by our absence. Some will be thrilled beyond measure. See how much more interesting and productive that will be for TSN Strat on-line too. We've been driving away all the new customers. And creating controversy. Business will boom. This way no one will ever be upset here again. I think it's just the right thing to do. Win-Win for everyone. I'll do it if you will.

[b:171f656f36]And I'm dead serious too.[/b:171f656f36]

I think that's the point, the majority ARE adults in here. When some start acting like children, it's only fitting they be removed to the kid's table.

If I go to see a movie I would expect parents to take their crying, whining children out of the theater so that the rest of us can watch the film in peace.

Now, that's how most see it, I think. personally, I see Weinberg/Petrosian as more of an illicit cockfight or jello-wrestling match and was enjoying the whole tawdriness of it all.

Even this thread is turning into a flame war. Dudes, this isn't a site any of us actually pay for. The moderator is free to respond to community complaints and take action. He didn't delete the aforementioned threads, he just moved them. Finally, a gentle reminder that "free speech" isn't necessarily free, if it comes into conflict with the social mores of the majority. What bernie did barely registers as a slap on the hand. Some of us are acting like we got beat up for our lunch money.

Thanks Bernie. As an adult it is nice to see people in charge having the courage to do the right thing.
