Does anyone have a high water mark for best record or most wins in one run games? A team in a current league is currently 23-12 in one run games (51-39 overall).
That's gotta be some kind of record pace.

That would be pretty rare if it was a lot of high-scoring games. I'm guessing it's a team with outstanding pitching and just enough offense to win? 80 million salary cap?

114 games into a season and I'm currently sporting a 26-12 record in 1-run games and have a 12-3 record in extra innings.
No coincidence that I'm on pace for 109 wins which would be my all-time best record. Will probably lose in the first round of the playoffs! :roll: :x :wink:

Bill James once said 1 run games was an indication of luck. A team with lots of 1 run wins one season was likely to fall back the next. Conversely a team with poor 1 run record had bad luck and was a prime candidate to bounce back and surprise everyone the next season.
Spot checking my teams I had 90 win team that was 36-14 in 1 run games.
Had one stinker that was 68-94 but 24-23 in 1 run games. :lol:
Had a 101 win champion that was 20-23 in 1 run games.
Had a 104 win champion that was 17-20 in 1 run games.
My only 100 loss team ever was 25-21 in 1 run games. Surprising.
Makes me wonder how much correlation there really is between record in 1 run games and overall record. Maybe one of the number crunchers on here will do an analysis on this.
Had a team with only 80 wins in a bad division win a championship. It was 23-26 in 1 run games which proves it is best to save your luck until the playoffs. :lol:

I have seen guys complain that due to their run differential they should have a better record and I usually disagree with that. If you have a good reliever to win the one run games and don't waste him during a blowout that is a smart thing. Who cares if you lose by 1 run or 10, a loss is a loss.

Took a look at my last 8 teams and this seems to be right. My current team that is doing well and having a good 1-run record is disputed by other teams w/good records but sucking in 1-run games, and teams w/bad W-L records having good 1-run game #s...
So, I retract my previous post and just chalk it up to coincidence...

Holding steady at 24-12, must have lost the one run magic. Been on a tear lately with the pitching anchoring the team.

How about worst record?
In our long-running SBDL league (23 seasons and counting), poor bunze0 has a 49-74 record and a Pythagorean record of 63-60.
He is currently 14-30 in one-run games. How frustrating is that??
