Listening to Jim Leyland being interviewed about Prince Fielder. He says weight of neither Fielder or Cabrera is a concern. he donwlplayed it citing lineman in NFl who are vary large yet move very well. Says he actually cautioned Miguel against losing too much weight.

Yep. I would say that the excess weight of $45+ million of a pair of ball players, including one my team has invested in the next nine years in (probably longer than Leyland will be with the team, perhaps even longer than he will be walking the Earth) is not a concern...

In the backroom, you're gonna want to keep Fielder in a shape that is less round than present, and you're gonna want to keep Miggy off the bottle and in some sort of shape that more resembles a fielder and less resembles Fielder.

I think 545 is generous as it requires we believe that Prince Fielder only weighs 275.

Not even sure how this relates to the Yankees, as we were not looking to add Fielder since he would be a full time DH (behind Texiera) and the Yankees are loaded with guys who are old and need some DH time (ARod, Jeter, Tex).

Let's see... Hosmer is more of a wild card. But I have him under team control for at least five more years, including two seasons before arb (since he has <1 year service).
On the other hand, he won't be a 38 year old 350 lbs slugger in the final year of that 9 years....
I'm a Hosmer guy, even if I don't think he's gonna pan out (I do, but you cannot deny that Prince has more of a track record of success).
