Have 2 Petcos '05, & 1 League Park teams - so EXTREME small ball teams in my division. Two are R dominated both SP and hitting, an 1 is a mix.

I am definitely no expert on all the ATG6 cards, but your team looks pretty strong to me. I know your park is a lefty bomber park but I would make sure none of your rivals load up on too many lefty pitchers because it appears like you do not have a single right handed hitter of any substance.

I have played Strat my whole life (although not here at TSN) and I realize the importance of defense and in particular defense up the middle at SS,2B,CF and C, but sometimes I wonder if some of the SS who are 1s defensively are not a bit overpriced. You do not HAVE to have a 1 at SS to win. But I guess since you did not spend a lot on pitching it helps to have a 1 at SS. I was just thinking out loud in general, not neccessarily in regards to your team. I am sure you know this set of cards better than I. But you asked, so I offered my two cents.

Your divisional foes are spending, on average $40M per team, and playing in pitcher parks compared to your ~$15M in spend. :roll:

I'd prefer all SP* as mixing SP/SP* isn't efficient.

Assuming you stay the course, look at Hrabosky and Narleski for long relief.

For bats, I like Schalk or Sanguillen over Benito

There are better choices for 2B/SS - look at Serrell, Fox, Temple. At SS, you can grab Templeton, Dourcher, Marion, Wallace.

If you want money for pitching, Hill and Maris are candidates for restructuring. Put Stearnes in CF and look for Denny Green for LF or RF. He saves $3M.

Maris is fine but you can save another $2M with Callison, Slaughter or Dolby

Thanks...thing with Maris is that he's good for 60 HR and 155-170 RBI every time out in this park. Low BA, but high slugging. Maybe I'll cut Hill for more pitching.

Win for your park first before worrying about the other parks. I think light-hitting Bud Harrelson and Pete Hill are a waste. Put Stearnes in CF. You can also get better value guys than Mattingly and Klein for those positions.

Get lefty hitters that hit HRs and righties that hit for high average with low bpHRs. Probably about 6 lefties and 3 righties total. At least one of those righties should slant heavily to the left. One righty should be a high OBP #2 hitter and another should be a 5 or 6 hole guy that hits for a high average to help drive in runs.

You also need to spend a lot more on pitching. Until a larger influx of SP cards comes in, I would stick to SP* only. I would spend 26M-28M total on the pitching staff, with about 75% in SPs.

Thanks for the info. Will consider it. I always though KLein was a steal at that price though. Who matches KLein at his price? Whenever I have him in this park he's in the top 10 or near it in overall production. I usually DH him.

I think you will struggle vs. LHP as Maris doesn't generally hit it well except for power, and Mattingly doesn't hit it for power. I am sure you can find a less defensively minded first baseman who is left handed and has 8 BPHR on each side.

Not sure what Casey Patten's function is here. The * is money wasted unless you want him to be the "ace" and have the rotation revolve around him. Mixing is not good money strategy.

Not clear on the function of Pete Hill here. Doby's 6.97 hits for power vs both sides, is left handed, is better defensively, has clutch, and is a three game injury (vs Hill's 15).

Moving Stearnes to Center isn't a bad idea either, since you are, in effect paying for his CF defense. Moving Stearnes out for, I dunno, Yaz saves some money, improves the D (with three extreme small ball parks, you will want to control the running game... an OF of Maris, Doby, Yaz... with Santiago behind the plate... that's how you keep em from taking the extra base or stealing the extra base).

This is off the top of my head. I'd workshop it in more detail if I were playing it.

Phew..had a strange week and couldn't settle into this team right away. Made some changes, but club got off to an 0-9 start ! My worst ever.

Shut out 5 of 9 games-and NO-HIT by Tiant ! Was hitting about .118 for the club.

But, continued to make moves, losing money, but was already in a salvage op.

BUT...have managed to win 7 of 9 to avoide certain disaster. The first place team is 13-5. From 0-9 to 7-11 and 6 games out.

Advice well taken. I've had the same roster for a long time, and havn't checked out other players...Will post results when it's all said and done...
