Just When I Thought I Was Figuring It Out

Just When I Thought I Was Figuring It Out

So I decided to check out my awesome team that launched out of the gates Monday night with a 12-3 record. I was admiring the finely tuned baseball machine that only a genius could have put in place.

"Hey, I wonder why DH Vince Coleman has so few ABs and Ping Bodie has been used so much?"

A little research reveals...I never set any lineups.

So, basically, my teams perform better the less I have to do with them. Maybe I need to let Hal start drafting them too. I'd be untouchable.

The problem is, I'm afraid to do anything with the lineups now. I should just leave it alone, right?

Remember in Bull Durham, when he said you never mess with a winning streak? :) I wouldn't touch [i:fa8fd79080]anything[/i:fa8fd79080] until I lose a series.

yup. Ive done that before. There was good analysis done a while back (maybe will jannsen?) concerning the relatively minor impact the actual lineup has on outcomes over the course of a season.
There are tweakings to be sure, but not usually the difference between a winner or loser.

Never underestimate the power of luck, both good and bad.

By the way, I like using speedy guys at DH and batting them last. At least in 80 million dollar leagues. I am using Brock as a DH against RHP in one league. He bats last and sets the table for the top of the order. He has given me great run production even driving in 56 runs in only 350 or so ABs. Plus he is leading the league in stolen bases. I hope Vince Coleman does the same for you.

I don't get the why everyone loves Body Ping so much. I guess for .50 cents he is a good bargain.

Good lucks!

This is why people love Ping so much - he's capable for short term of putting up reasonable numbers.
