Help with Pitching & Defense team

Hey, I am trying something new and was hoping to get some input before the draft takes place. I'm going to be playing a $100 mil, DH league and wanted to give a team based on pitching and defense a try. I tried using some input from threads I found and this is what my draft list is like:

I tried to go for all 1's, and more OB than HRs. Traynor and Snider are good Clutch guys from the thread about that . . . overall the team doesn't have a lot of HR power but I'm curious how well/bad I did? Did I actually underspend on pitching? Thanks.

General comment - you are paying too much for bench players. Wickware, Boone, Sewell, Kingman, Coleman have got to go for guys under (usually well under) $1 million. It's not a bad idea to use a random .50 million guy who can't relieve as your 5th starter when you have 4 * starters. Also, with a 4-man rotation, your 4th starter should be considerably cheaper than your others. Use the money for offense.

Walks are overvalued in small-ball. Look for guys with lots of hits and especially lots of extra base hits. Several of the 1894 cards (Duffy, Delahanty, Joe Jackson, Joe Kelley) have many of the attributes you want.

Other useful guys are Heilmann, Sisler 21, the $8.78 Lajoie, any Waner, Cobb, Wagner, and Eddie Collins. Lots of guys will use the high-injury Wagner or Collins. The new Bresnahan card looks interesting, but I would prefer him in Petco rather than Forbes because of his awful error and PB rates. Mackey is a more mainstream choice.

Defense is more valuable in, say, Forbes 57 than in Petco - the park you are in is an important factor.

I thought I had included my park, but it was perco...maybe I should change it? also, Kingman was a possibility at DH, unless you have some better choices?

I think Forbes is a better choice for the theme you are trying, I like Sewell as a value to DH and lead off, after that I would get away from the HR hitters and go small ball with speed and x-base power. An example of a line-up I would use is.

This saves about 5 mil from your current starters add to that some savings that can be made from your bench and you can put it back into your pitching staff. All these starters are ones on def. and are * runners with good speed.

If your playing small-ball, Sewell is very good as is Suzuki. I don't know if I'd worry about hitting home runs as much. The Snider u have could be good. I've been intrigued by it but have never used it. I don't know about it in Petco though. I don't think Petco is a very good park at all. It's just to stingy where your hitters will just never get it going.

General comment on the draft card: I'd draft some more slam-dunk stars. Your playing in 100 mil and don't really have any stud 3-4 hitters. I (and I think everyone else) likes to draft multiple win conditions so if they miss out on 1 or two stars they can still guaranteed to get an offensive anchor like Lajoie, Cobb, Duffy, Wagner, Speaker, Sisler etc. In Small-ball this is even more important because there's just not as many GREAT's.

Thanks! I took most of your suggestions . . . changed a few, including getting the pricier Speaker, but also got another LF instead of Kelly because I can still see him diving for the ball and having it bounce off his face twice. And I don't like the Yankees. But beyond that I think the team looks better.

I think there was a small problem with Waner . . . I didn't see him at the salary you listed and he wasn't a * runner on the cards I saw. I kept Suzuki on my card, that cannon in RF will be nice as well.
