We need to load 25 players when we buy our teams, but can drop back to 23 after that, if we wish.
As far as I know, the only game engine change from 2001 to 2002 is as follows:
2001: $80M salary cap, 20% FA penalty, minimum active roster of 23 players, [b:31b2d8845f]including at least 8 pitchers[/b:31b2d8845f]
2002: $80M salary cap, 20% FA penalty, minimum active roster of 23 players, [b:31b2d8845f]including at least 9 pitchers[/b:31b2d8845f]
As always, there is no requirement for a team to drop a player who is not issued a card in the new year's set; e.g., if a star player from 2001 is injured in 2002 but will be able to play again in 2003, then that player can remain on a team's roster (as one of their 30 players) while using the 2002 card set.
