A Minute Maid in a world full of Lefties...

Nev -

1) I respectfully beg to differ with you that my $140m MM team was poorly constructed.

3) Once again, you are completely overlooking Valentine's injury risk - that is the big issue for why I am not using him.

Not suggesting that anyone fear Valentine but it was an answer to our guy here, thinking R. Smith or R. Youngs being these huge deterrents to teams throwing righties at him...or making them pay if they do.

Had he said "I'll go dirt cheap somewhere and get Barry Bonds or Babe Ruth to deter others from throwing righties, or make them pay if they do"... I would agree with that....not the lefties in question here.

ok don't use Valentine he ain't the end all, but the lefties you're thinking about using aren't going to be very helpful...I stated that, and a couple of others that offered you advice stated that also (I think).

I never ever stated that Ross Youngs would be a deterrent to hard RH's being thrown against me.

For that matter, I never said Reggie Smith would be either. I said I was looking for a LH batter that would be such a deterrent...

Cuyler real value comes in Pitchers Parks...You need more power in MM.

More importantly Piazza's 23 Errors hurt.

[b:f93735efac]10m[/b:f93735efac] on a 3b platoon that gave you [b:f93735efac]73 rbi[/b:f93735efac]

and over [b:f93735efac]11m[/b:f93735efac] on a SS platoon that gave you [b:f93735efac]70 R and 49 RBI[/b:f93735efac]

Cuyler led off for me and played poorly unfortunately. In addition to excellent OB chances both ways, he has 3 BPHR's both ways as an added bonus...

You have to have someone lead off Nev who has excellent OB skills and not just brute power...

As to SS, you don't have all the facts and are misinterpreting what happened. Boudreau was originally my SS and I ended up cutting him because he was hitting .240/.290/.350. I picked up Ozzie with the freed funds just to back up HomeRun Johnson.

What don't you like about leading off with a homerun lol..

I hear ya...its why I rarely post advice anymore, most don't follow it anyway...as an aside I just found Barry did this on one of my MM 100m teams.

Bonds, Barry (2001) L LF 2(+1)e7 563 [b:df4dd9ef8b]172[/b:df4dd9ef8b] 158 23 1 [b:df4dd9ef8b]88[/b:df4dd9ef8b] [b:df4dd9ef8b]200 [/b:df4dd9ef8b]147 119 0 0 2 .281 .432 .794 3R 14.54M

[b:df4dd9ef8b]88 HRS 200 RBI 172 R WOW![/b:df4dd9ef8b]

Couldn't disagree with you more Nev about batting Bonds leadoff - its a complete waste of his power unless you have incredible OBP at the bottom of your lineup. I want Bonds hitting 3-run HR's not solo shots any day of the week.

I didn't bat Bonds leadoff...Just asked what don't you like about a leadoff homerun

But I find it amazing that if you think I did bat Barry leadoff when I posted his stats and showed you the [b:a6f09f3e76]200 rbi [/b:a6f09f3e76] you still said it was a waste of his power.
