Membership usually has its priviledges. However I don't always see the SOM loyalty. There are players thta have fuelled this site and continue to allow it to exist. I should receive some frequent flyer points I think. For example when I purchase my 20th team, I should get a free one. Or once I've purchased 50 teams I should always get the Special sales rates that are occasionally offered like 5 teams for 80 bucks.

Hackdog99 asked me:[quote:e4aebaa8d5]
To the original poster could you elaborate on the following quote:
"when they can buy a season roster code for 22.00 and do as many leagues or replays as they like with it."

How do I this $22.00 option and what is it? Is that the CD-ROM? [/quote:e4aebaa8d5]

Yes, I am referring to the CD-ROM. The intial cost of the CD-ROM is greater than 22 bucks, it is around 60 bucks, but once you have the game any additional seasons are 22 bucks and SOM offers discounts for multiple purchases of past seasons. And once you own the past seasons you can do as many replays or leagues as you like.

However, I do think that the format Bernie has created here is awesome and I will continue to play here no matter what.

But I am just wondering out loud how many old time SOM players are turned off the by the price the same way Hackdog99 is? I personally know many old time SOM players who think 25 dollars is too much for just one league. I know you can get five seasons for 100 bucks and you have the opportunity to win free credits (which is a great idea) but it would seem like Bernie and SOM could lure more old timers in with a lower price, at least at first. And you could probably keep more of the people who have been here for years, with a loyalty program like a free team after every dozen or so paid teams.

Thanks Bernie!

I got 10 teams for $160.00 on the last sale. I think that was a fair price. Wasn't it 5 for $79.99? I grabbed two 5 packs. That should take me well into 2012 card set. I hope to make the finals 2 to 3 times. I did with my second team and grabbed 2 extra credits already. That makes 12 teams for $160.00. I am down to under $14 a team. I still have 9 credits with 1 team just underway. 8 weeks for under $1.75 that is money well spent with 9 more teams left to bring the price down even more. I do understand that it was alot of money up front but I also know that it will go on for along time without me coughing up anymore money.

Re: Keeper leagues

[quote:13e7e8b04b="Ninersphan"]That COULD be the most exciting aspect of this venture, the fact that Strat recognizes that many people play this game as a keeper format on a year to year basis.

I'd LOVE to see the site track keepers leagues featuring:

40 man rosters
Keeping track of all trades
Keeping track of records for determining draft order
LIVE draft functionality, ala the diamond dope site

In short I'd love it if Strat would take over the commisoner duties for the 2 leagues I run. :D[/quote:13e7e8b04b]

We all feel your Pain Niners, but also get the gain from your great work as a Commish! 8-)

Comical to see people who say what the price can be reduced to--without any demographic or market analysis, not to mention a knowledge of the existing margins.

And 20% off the price per team for buying a 5 pack is a significant discount. Someone even mentioned that as a desired price point, then discounted it because 5 teams had to be bought?

Must be some young kids.

[quote:534922970a="Stormcrow2012"][quote:534922970a]I wish they could get the price down to $19.95 for a single season (and correspondingly cheaper for a 5-pack). Psychologically, that seems a lot cheaper! [/quote:534922970a]

I think this is an idea most people can get behind. I know several old time Strat players who think it is too expensive to pay 25.00 for an on-line team when they can buy a season roster code for 22.00 and do as many leagues or replays as they like with it.

The question for SOM and Bernie becomes could they get more players and more profits by lowering the price (slightly)? I think the answer is yes, even if the price reduction were only temporary to get more people hooked on this great format.

A lot of SOM customers do not play the on-line game and therefor do not know what they are missing. It really is a great format for a great game. Once some of these customers find out how easy and fun it is hopefully the number of players will increase dramatically.

I like some of the ideas for keeper leagues, and offering a deal where a commissioner can buy a whole league for a certain price.[/quote:534922970a]

Speak for oneself. It already is 20 per team.

Will these changes affect ATG 6 in the very near future?

Postby dspeters5 » Sun Feb 12, 2012 8:50 am

Will any of these exciting changes affect ATG 6 in the very near future?

Will batch 6 of new cards coming out be affected?

Looking to start two new leagues in the next two to three weeks?

Any information would be appreciated.

If the tranistion of the games to the new platform goes as planned ATG, or an other game, will not be affected at all.

Thanks Bernie, you have saved SOM online. I agree with the previous statement about pricing - that this is a business and the pricing has to be appropriate to fund the costs of doing business and return a profit for the company. Otherwise, it would be a charity. Obviously, the lower the price, the more players, but the less return per player. Its cheaper than attending an actual game, but perhaps more expensive than some other on-line games. The tough question for Bernie and his employers is to find the price point that is best for the business overall (meets costs, builds fan base, etc etc). Maybe there will be some really creative ideas. I love SOM and looking forward to playing after the ownership transfer.

It is a great game. Will we be seeing a return of football? Also, information about the fielding charts, bunting charts, etc. has been very difficult to access, many of us would appreciate easier access to the die roll charts that HAL uses. On the game replay in mystery card formats, can we see which fielder makes the play and when the fielder card is in play? Would that really make the mystery card easier to figure out?
