Thome

Thome

If you select Jim Thome in an Autodraft and you don't get him, does HAL give you the next DH in the set, or does he reward you with the next hitter after him? I have never selected him for this reason. Has anyone here selected him and remember who his replacement was when you missed out on him? I wouldn't want to lose out on a high draft pick. Any help is most appreciated. Thanks. Robert

HAL will give the next available player that plays the position Thome plays as a primary position. So if you drafted the third base Thome , you would get the next 3B not on someone else's draft card. If you drafted the first base Thome, you get the next 1B not on someone else's draft card.

I think his question concerns the 2010 Thome who is a pure DH. If he doesn't get Thome, does he get possibly Morneau (the next hitter on the list) or does he get Travis Hafner (the next pure DH on the list)?

Yes, That is the question...

And thank you for clarifying that point. I realize that I didn't state it was the 2010 set, where Thome is only a DH.

Hey Rob...not that I remember who I may have got in his place, but I do I've never successfully drafted him...and I've never received Hafner either. So my GUESS is next best hitter, but then again, maybe someone else had Hafner on their card which precluded my from getting him as the Thome-replacement.

I think he is a great addition to a HR or LH HR Park, or a team that plays in a pitcher's park where he could supply LH power with all those natural HRs. But I would hate to get the next DH in his place at the top of my draftlist, when I could get a better position player.
