[quote:e38ed78fd2="zeepstah"]I don't mean to be a whiner, but I had no idea that a trade like that would be legal. I'm just trying to figure it out...but if I had a vote (not saying that I do), I would shoot this one down. Sorry...[/quote:e38ed78fd2]

As a disinterested party (and not coincidentally former commissioner), I don't see a problem with the trade. It's not my decision, but since I don't have a vested interest and am very familiar with the league, I just thought I'd share my opinion.

Unless several others have an issue with trade, I'm going to leave it in place, especially with Coyote's 2 cents since he's the one that started this league.

But zeepstah - if you have a big issue with this, we can modify the trade per sphilip's suggestion, as it effectively ends with the same result.

I think the trade is fine (although Brett and Lynn are usually worth more than Jax).

I guess I just disagree with the sentiment that obtaining an extra protected player should be allowed. But since nobody else seems to have an issue with it, I will drop it. I just thought the question was worth asking.

Just for kicks, though, what about a 3-for-1 deal? Would that be allowed as long as it happened after announcing protected players and prior to the supplemental draft? I'm guessing yes...

If nothing else, at least I'm filling the dead air with some interesting sports radio talk. Can someone page Dr. Koepke?

3 for 1 deal would be fine. Even 3 + supplemental pick for 1 would be fine. It's really up to the individual manager to determine if the 1 guy + cash to spend on others is worth other 2 or 3 guys.

Speaking of talk radio, I can't believe that Ed Figueroa lost in the playoffs. Still pitched great though.

At the end of this coming season, every team will protect three--and only three--players from scratch. A player's "protected" status ends once the autodraft is complete.

There is nothing that is taking place that couldn't simply be done after the autodraft, so nobody is gaining an advantage. It does make the preseason more interesting, so I think it's a good thing to allow it.

Again, pardon me for butting back in. I'm gratified to see this league is still going.
