Hi J,
Well, this was a "theme" team for me. I took as many Giants as I could get my hands on (and still have a chance to win). That's why I had the rotation that I had. Since I wanted to get closer to $30 mil on pitching and I figured that I would need a deep pen, I put $ into the pen. Probably too much in looking at TSF.
My initial plans went awary when, unfortunately, no one would trade me Wilson or Posey so I went with a Castro/Zaun platoon. The Aniquaters (MataRata) were nice enough to trade me Torres for Hunter/Santiago however.
So to answer your questions, I took Castro to face a bunch OF LHSPs in my league (and backward RHSP). Since Zaun is cheap and injury prone I wanted a C that could also go both ways when need be. I had saved quite a bit of $ by starting Fontenot and Ryan (my Brandon Crawford wannabe) up the middle so I could afford to do it.
As for Axford, I needed a closer since I only had Meek with a closer rating so I needed someone else and, since I felt my SPs were weak, and Meek was backward Axford was a good fit. Yeah, he only got 52 IP, but quite a few were when I needed his C6 or R2.
Lopez was primarily because he's a Giant and he was the only LHRP on the staff.
As for the hitting, yeah, it wasn't too far out of your averages, but I was just noting that they set new low points for five of the spots on your chart and that three of the four SPs also set new lows. Just thought that was interesting. Maybe I didn't read your chart correctly.
