Defense Question

Defense Question

Postby mykeedee » Tue Feb 28, 2012 12:02 pm

I'm in a 60m league and I have '56 Wally Post and '29 Hack Wilson, I could play either Post in RF and Wilson @ DH, or Wilson in CF and Post @ DH against righties, I have '27 Charlie Jamieson and '84 Phil Bradley as my other 2 OF'ers. So my question is: Is it better to have the 4(-2) in RF with a 1(0) in LF and a 2(+1) in CF as opposed to playing the 3(0) in CF and moving the2(+1) to RF?

I am not really sure of your situation but I do know for a fact that the outfielder's range rating is at least ten times more important than his arm rating. I would rather have an outfielder who is a 1 (+3) than one who is a 3(-4) any day and twice on Sundays for double headers.

I would agree with stormcrow--I've always had better luck with a higher range rating....maybe other managers have had different luck....

I'm thinking the 3 in CF is worse than the 4 in RF.

The combination of a 4(-2) in RF and a 2(+1) in CF is probably more run preventive than the 2(+1) in in RF with the 3 in CF.

Too busy to pull my DeanTSC Offense vs Defense article out.
