probably shooting myself in the foot because the league is stocked with vets but i got hammerred in the draft and was still 7th in waivers.

i tried to accumulate as much talent as possible, i hate edmonds (but big time cardinals fan), and i have too many lefties, but i wanted a solid defense to go with my hopefully record setting strikeout pitching staff.....but hal likes to stick it to me so who knows

any help would be nice thanks

You team is not in as bad of shape as you think. You need to focus on upgrading C, CF (Porter and Edmonds are horrible for your park) and possibly 2b and/or SS (if you want a 1 defense at SS). Other than that, you have pretty good players at the other positions.

fisk, yogi, biz, cochrane are out there for c

cf is a crap shoot, ii mean kirby and eric davis wont do me good, my division is heavy rh p. lynn, lofton, al kaline?? i mean slim pickings and im not platooning

ss, i mean rizzouto, ripkin and petrocelli are out there, but again, how much better than nomar would that really be

Cochrane is your choice at C if you can get him followed by Biz.

In CF, Lofton works well for Petco especially at 140 where you can afford an injury backup for him (he can go down for 15 games).

I would keep Nomar at SS but some people are insistent at having a 1 at SS.

You don't have enough RH power for the parks in your division, if I looked them up right. How many other parks are power stadiums away from home? Why won't you platoon? HAL can't take advantage, or work against platoons very well. CF could be a big platoon if you look hard enuf. E Davis is a 20 to steal, with big lead chance, a 30-40 type guy, how good are the catchers in the league, plus he's a 3 position backup, and with power for those hr parks. Look for as many attributes as possible, be greedy.

Petrocelli is 40 hrs .400 oba, better d than Nomar. I'd change Tudor for one of those lefty's. bull pen is fine. Richard will get killed, Lemon, Manning,H Smith, many others, look at whip and no hr's.

DH with Kelly is putrid, my DH's can play other positions too. Negro League players are a great source for DH and backups. How about Dixon, Wright, Bob Bonds, York, Post, R Smith etc for hitters? In 200M, I platooned Cash and Hodges at 1B and Sandberg/ Lazzeri at 2B and got great years out of both, like 40+ HRs and 100+ rbi's. You can do it here too. Dig in to the free agent pool.

Hope some of this helps, fine team that needs some tweaks. You have to win in your division to make the playoffs. Good Luck

I like your team. Very much in fact.

Well, except maybe for the infield, outfield, pitching and catching. I do especially like that we are in the same division. (Actually the infield isn't bad).

Good luck! Should be a fun season. :D

Petrocelli is an absolute disaster in Petco Park...

Kelly is a perfect small ball player and DH for your park...

Actually no. Sam Thompson is better and he is available. But Kelley is a good fit as well, maybe even worth keeping over Heilman. If it were my team I'd try and trade Gehrig for a CF and pick up Connor and have him and Thompson bat 5th and 6th. Or just grab Lynn for CF and platoon him with Chet Lemon.

i think richard will do fine in your park. i have used him on a few of my smallball teams to neutralize the minute maids and hilltops in the league.

i think your staff has enough to win, so i would focus on improving my offense.

i would use mackey at C, i would also try to get thompson for DH, connor is a fine player at 1B (use them both as petro stated), boggs is a nice 3B, waner and heilmann are keepers in your park, trade for another CF or find a platoon that you think works and i would try to find a different 2B.

try to trade players as opposed to dropping them. i would probably just drop edmonds though, but alomar, gehrig and porter others might be interested in.

i am moving back to cochrane for catcher and debting on cf platoon between a few players because there are not too many lefties out there
